Grant those are awesome awesome progress pictures! Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what kind of powerplant is going in the truck? Mind if I ask, why no IFS/IRS?

Cool build, and love seeing progress!

Very cool build!
I can see the reason for retaining the straight axle, I wish I had with my 53 M100 as it keeps the build some much simpler and within my abilities.
I firmly believe that with a rebuild on the front suspension the ride and handling is very acceptable.
You can check out Grant`s 56 in his Garage: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/g...yamagrant.html

Thanks guys. Morris hit the nail on the head with the staight axle, keepin it simple. I installed new reverse eye front main leafs, new spring pin's, bushing's, king pin bushing's, and tie rod's, just waiting for the drag link rebuild kit and the front end is done. I have installed the Toyota p/s box and a complete power booster, master and pedal assy. I will be running a 5L/AOD combo out of an 88 Lincoln Town Car with 100000km, I also will use the diff and countless other parts off the Lincoln (it's a super clean maintained car). I feel with radial tires and the spring's softened and the power steering the ride will be very good. I'll be pulling the front sheet metal off this weekend to prep and paint the frame. I'll keep you posted.

Progress!

This truck doesn't look like much... but its come a long long long way from when I bought it for $300.

The rest of the summer is going to be figuring out wiring and testing to see why things will/won't work.

I've got a lot of issues with the wiring under the hood because it's a 351W and FMX combo from a 1972 Ford Galaxy. The P.O. dumped the C6 and 351M for what's currently under the hood and chopped his way through the wiring just to make everything... "run"...

My budget is tight because of university... so bare with me.

Lots of plans... so little time...

I've got:

C6 (needs rebuild)
Seats (last picture)
Everything I need for the A/C except the A/C unit and bracket
Subs & Amp (Thanks to Effie!)
Dash with A/C vents
Rust-free doors (match the cab)
Perfect/Crack-free front windshield
Perfect/Unmounted/Spotless Racetrack trim
3G alternator
Lincoln Mark VIII Electric fan
Double Roller Timing assembly
A butt-load of POR-15, degreaser & wirewheels
Lots more in parts... but those are the bigger ones so far.

Wish I had more money to sink into this thing and lots more time... cause I can't get it to run right and the tranny leaks sooooooo badly.

Oh well though, back to wrenchin! That's all for now folks!

Great looking project Aaron. Looks like a rock solid base, do what you can, when you can. When the cash flow is low there are plenty of thing's to be cleaned and prepped, sort wireing, or even just sitting in a chair staring at it with a frosty beverage making plans. Keep up the good work.

You two are really showing the rest of us up, both are great projects with lots of pictures and good info. We haven`t had this much excitment since Ryan posted some of his builds.
Why don`t you each start your own thread in this chapter on your projects? They`re very worthy of it!

Thanks for the encouragement. I need it every chance I can get it cause this 351W really gets me down sometimes with how it's burning up so much of my time.

It's such a massive pain to try and keep running... can't figure out why but it's likely electrical cause the P.O. hacked and slashed everything.

Funny you mention that Morris cause I was just wondering if I should start my very own thread or not. I've been debating it all summer, but my progress is always sooooooo slow.

I'm sure you guys wouldn't mind since not many build threads exist on the Man/Sask chapter haha. Compared to some of the other build threads on the 73-79, mine is like I've never touched anything on it.

Maybe I'll get to it this weekend

Happy "Hump Day" all, have a good day. Thanks Mo, I think I will start a build thread in the MB/SK site. It's very motivational.
