Was just curious Grant how/what you were all upgrading from stock. Love the project!
I installed reverse eye front springs, replaced all the pin's and bushing's. replaced the king pin's and tie rods, installed disc brakes and a powerbrake booster / master cyl assy. I bought a new pedal assy and installed the toyota p/s. I should be very satisfied with the ride and handling. In the rear I will be installing the donor car's diff 8.8 with drum brakes and rear leaf's and hanger's out of a late model Ranger. This will be a budget build for Jordan my 14yr old to drive when he gets his license. My total cost to rebuilt the frt end / rear end and brakes will be around $1000.00. I am a licensed Auto tech by trade and cut my teeth on these types of suspension's. This build gives Jordan a chance to see actually how simple these trucks were in the day. That`s exactly what I would do it next time too, it`s too much messing around for me for just a Sunday driver. My T has both jag ifs/irs and while is nice for the type of driving I do a straight axle would work just fine.
I agree that for on the drag strip or high horse power applications ifs/irs would be a good consideration.
Gerry, I dont know if its a sin of this site or not to post that 72 gmc, but what a gorgeous truck! My wife really likes those style of trucks, and I regret selling the 70 that I had before I met her, as I woulda fixed it up for her.
I dont think its a sin, I dont tell everyone about it & I dont advertise it in my siggy, I know yer were kidding but Grant asked to see it so I love talking about my 72 anyway, I've had that truck for 35 yrs now....
I dont think IFS or IRS would be good for the drag strip really Morris. I think for the drag strip a guy would want more solid of a ride, and probably a tough rear setup, like a 4 link.
IFS and IRS is really all about ride quality. Compare your T to a T without that fancy suspension and I bet your would see why a jag swap is so popular, especially for those nice summer sunday rides!
Grant I love budget builds as well. I find that its too easy to write a cheque, but when your on a budget, you get to see true builders and great and interesting ideas.

Gotta agree with Sheldon on this one. IRS will add to the parasitic losses of momentum on a strip. Wheel hop, squatting, and possibly some extra weight (just a guess, not sure) aren't going to be your friend. My buddy's '03 SVT Cobra/supercharged has the IRS and when you let that sucker wind up it will hop like a bunny all day long...

I wasn`t aware of any Mustang ever having factory irs.....always thought they had a straight rear axle.
