Cold weather & no snow on the ground means broken water lines, some ppl need to leave the water on so it doesn't freeze up......we have lots of snow now but we still get broken lines
I generally get 5-7 years out of my original AC Delco batteries. The vehicles are garaged...not sure if that makes much difference.
But the vehicles are well maintained. I also think with the advent of fuel injection, computer controlled engine management that batteries have an easier life than the old days with carbs, points , spark plugs...etc...that either seemed to go out of tune or wore out faster.
I recall lot's of instances, years ago, where I had the hood up...with a screwdriver down the throat of a carb...after it flooded...trying to get it to start. I'm sure this wore down batteries much faster.
I know if en electronic engine management goes now...that's it (for me), it's time to call the tow truck. But I do admit, with computerized engine management systems now...little, if any cranking...just turn the key and the engine springs to life...no where near the stress on batteries as with the old systems.
We finally got a little snow last night! Had the backhoe out for the first plow of the year. Dont quite have enough for a sled ride yet though, maybe in the ditch.
