i think it weighed about 90lbs. i laid on the floor of the truck with my arm through the access panel and held the clutch while he lined it up to slide it over a spline. i don't remember the setup process. we had to take it apart again because something was missing or broken, i don't quite recall. i just remember holding on for dear life cause it'd have killed him if i dropped it!!
Worst weight related one I have done was installing a chev turbo 350 tranny into a truck, while it was full of fluid. Just bench pressed er up there and had a buddy try to get the bolts in. Then when he couldnt get the bolts in, he benched it and I managed to get a bolt in!
Back in the day it was al outside repairs, all hand tools, all manual lifting. Only time I had to have assistance was the front end loaded to actually pull and reinstall the engines.
hi all,
now a days they have the fancy tranny jacks and a fancy lifts to make the job easier. now what would take all day now takes a few hours. and air tools helps alot. i think the fastest i pulled a TH350 was 35 minutes but the truck was older and 2wd. the 4x4's take a bit longer. the s-10's and the blazers and the dakota's are the worst.
i try not to bench press any tranny. if at all costs.
went for a goose hunt yesterday morning. pretty successful-14 geese and 3 ducks between 3 of us. i can only take credit for one bird though. seems like i'd better get practising my shot!!!
