I'm not even enough of a carpenter to be dangerous Perry.
I did a little leveling on my driveway with the 3 point hitch blade. I did manage to make it slightly better but it didn`t take me long to find out that the Deere will never replace my Bobcat.
Only had 2 nights below freezing here so far.
Lots of gray skies lately though.
Some wind and rain.
Overall its been cool, but could be worse.
Rode my motorcycle again today.
Been doing the kijiji for a few weeks checking out skidsteers, seeing how fast they're selling and for how much. It's amazing how crazy some of these prices are, up to 86k for a new one and used are up to 47k, only 2 under 10k out of 136 ads. I know there are decently priced used ones out there, but they are probably on acreages. Might have to wait until something with a blown motor shows up
I was thinking of a short spin on my motorcycle but ran out of time today. If it doesn`t rain tomorrow I`ll get in a ride but the forecast doesn`t look good.
Skid steer prices have jumped a lot in the last 5-6 years, even more so with the fall of the Canadian dollar. Unfortunately repairing a mechanic`s special isn`t cheap or simple so be careful Perry, check the cost of parts and possible labor first before jumping in.
Most of the Labour I can handle, anything I'd need help with I can defer to my brother. Anything that I can't do he can as he's a lifelong mechanic with all papers, insured and incorporated, his bad habit is a wooden sail boat that he sails the Jaun de Fuca straight with. If I found one with a blown motor I'd just buy some little pickup with a usable diesel that looks like crap for a few hundred.
I only get a reduced rate, LOL but I'd rather pay 40 an hour than 80. These skidsteers are basically a hydraulic pump driven by a 40 to 60 hp diesel motor. The hardest parts are mounting the motor and hooking it up to the pump as its a direct drive system. Can usually done by making an adapter plate.

Good deal if you can find a shop for only 80/hour.
He's got the advantage of working at home so he doesn't need to charge the last 40 an hour that shops need to in order.to cover the overhead and f ups. If he screws up he knows it'll come out of his pocket and that means less time on his boat.
