I think of parts trucks as a bank account, but it's time I put the excess parts on kijiji and put some $$$ into my project acct Bridgeford. There's a Fitech system out there with my name on it.
I`ve always bought part trucks when it was practical, Kijiji is a good hunting ground. Ugly or not all trucks have their place.
A few of these I have sold.
These poor things have certainly their time on salt roads.
Many years ago when I saw trucks like that I knew they came from eastern Canada, now our winter roads get the heavy salt treatment too.
Vehicles used to last here too but in the last 10-15 years the salt trucks have come out in full force. Also potash waste is used on our highways, it`s cheaper but a lot more corrosive than salt.
These things I buy would never get past the dot hwy inspection and as a result they cost me next to nothing. I keep everything I know that I can use or resell, still have a lot of heavy steel. I have a gantry crane courtesy of the parts trucks, when ever I need to build something, I've got the metal.
I used to accumulate spare parts and vehicles but now I`m down sizing since I`m getting lazy in my old age and not into fixing vehicles as much any more.
I needed a select group of parts for my project and realized that I needed 15k or some sharp buying skills. Googled everything that was of interest until I found the right combo of vehicles. Hardest part was buying in the, as needed sequence. Got lucky when the drunk driver totaled the 79 parts truck, good thing it was insured.
Thought maybe you all flew south Morris
