Good evening folks
If your deck is exposed to the elements with no shade protection theres not much you can do but keep throwing Thomsons or Olympic on it Morris. Thompsons isnt that good for the temperature extremes that we get east of the rockies. About the best thing to do for the floor is to go to a trex system but put it on 12" centers or you'll get waves.
My wife painted our deck this morning, it is almost an annual event. The paint she got this year is even the same shade as last year so its a bonus. The lumber yard here seems to change their tints every year.
I painted my fence Rona house brand walnut solid stain simply because it's uncomplicated to remember and when it fades it will go to a medium - dark brown and not red or pink like the lighter shades. It's well protected so I'll get 10 to 12 years before it starts fading. Decks are a pita to maintain if they are unprotected from the sun, rain, snow and temperature. The boards dry out and Crack from the heat, sun and lack of humidity yet the bottom of the board is cool and picks up humidity from the ground. Even the trex system has to be installed a bit different on the prairies or you'll get waves or you get buckling due to expansion growth.
Good morning folks, I`m off on a another trip to the dentist.
To put Olympic stain on my deck I would have to sand all of the previous stain off Perry, since it`s a different brand? What is trex system, vinyl decking?
How are things in BC Ian?
Hope you have a great long weekend too Grant.
Good morning everyone, nice cool breeze this morning , have the windows open for now but it's supposed to warm up considerably later so the windows will get shut and the A/C put to work ..
Good morning folks
There's not much you can do about the floor of a deck Morris but to recoat it with what you put on it originally. Trex is a resin and wood impregnated board, there's half a dozen variations of it. Google Home depot and see what they have for deck floors and their version of it will show up.
