Haha, well since you asked for the hijack and its your thread:
I am going to run the 46" michelin XML tires. I like the pattern and the void that they have, just not their rubber compound. Since I want this streetable, I'm going to run them over something like a 47" LTB.
I don't know how much I have into it. Your 4-link is going to add a whole lot of cost that I don't have. Here's a loose estimate.
$1200 on axles
$500 OEM front locker
$250 hydro steer
$600 tires
$100 DOM/TRE's
$250 divorced NP205
$125 for 1350 yokes
$100 rims
$220 F700 rotors
$180 F350 calipers
$400 driveshafts (?)
$100 brake lines (?)
$200 metal (?, and some of it has found its way to repairing fencing or building gates)
The last three I'm not sure on. I haven't ordered brake lines, I don't have the DOM for the d-shafts, and the metal will go up.
Based upon my mental math, thats $4025. I'm sure its about $500 higher than that. I can't wait to truggy/tube out my sht. That will be $$$ when I have it
well lets see for me, from what ive ordered till now
edit: I can take out money from things that I need to sell, like my ranchhand bumpers, BW1356, D60/10.25, etc
damn.......lame!!.....i want mine to be cheap....
thats a nice little trick i told you about the tire cutting on pirate eh.....ive seen it done, finished a 44 in about a hour...

1350-axles, rebuilt
1300-co's and shocks
1500~all heims/brackets/dom/metal
100~so far on plasma cutting
120-1410 yokes
70-4 bolt yoke

450-np200, rebuilt
200-bolts, wheel studs/nuts, little chit, etc
900~brakes
75-high steer arm
300-leaf springs
thats $8885 that i can remember of the top of my head, that doesn't include the hydro assist parts, (steering box, ram, lines, pump) or my engine....

Forgot, Skyjacker leaves (gay) $800 for f/r
I would have spent the same as you if I was doing coilovers/4link and running real rims/tires rather than the military crap

Yeah, it is. I would do it if I had something to cut, like Boggers, TSL's or LTB's. The chisel method wouldn't work so well for my XM:L's though, since they have enough void for what I do. They just need some material removed from the middle of the lugs, like mega-siping.
Because by the time you cut all of the bolts off and drive them out of the springs with a bfh and punch, you will have just as much time spent as just cutting the springs off in the first place. My 2 cents

well if you know how to dial in a torch right, you wont have all the slag and then won't have to punch them out.
I didn't torch my leaves, and they are laying behind the shop, burying themselves. They aren't worth saving imo.

I don't know about quads southern truck, but with I did hangers on my 89, I had to burn the bushings out because the bolts were so frozen into the sleeves. Just my .00002
I understand there just stock leaf springs but why not just cut the u bolts?
It would save gas for the torch if nothing else....
I need some jack stands with that much reach, nice!
b/c then id have to still ubbolt them........
i gave all that you seen away, in one package.....i really didn't give a chit about them......and i didn't feel like unbolting the leafs out......i unbolted the shocks to sell, thats it....

hmm didn't think about that. of course, i barely know what rust is, being in Texas and all : pirate salute :
aaaaand
Not to hijack, but I got my front passenger brake done last night @ 11.30
just have to do the other side, then its d-shafts & brake lines and I'll be wheeling
notice how i didn't have to put a bend in my high-steer arm... some people just have too much lift
j/k, but it will put my draglink angle somehwere around 3 to 12 degrees
I have now painted it, installed grease zerks, and reinstalled everything on the truck
this is teh caption on supermotors Disc Brakes001.JPG
Front passenger knuckle with high-steer arm, rotor & caliper. To get the knuckle of the axle you have to pull the axle shafts, which means complete disassembly of the knuckles.
Notice how the caliper is slightly rotated toward the top of the knuckle. I did this so that I will be less likely to scrape them on rocks/obstacles. The bolts on the caliper are 16mm coarse thread, grade 8.8 (equivalent to a grade 5) and are temporary.

hahahaha.......would you rather me have a bend in my beef 1" high steer arm, or have a draglink at a 30* angle?......mine wont be to bad of a angle
