Got my 7 pin plug in wired in Ol Blue. I need to weld the hooks for the safety chains and I'll be good to go.
I had a CEL for air intake temp sensor out of range today in the Dodge. I cleared it, so we'll see if it come back or not.
I talked to Kenny last Saturday, and since he's scared to show here I'll post up his news. He got the '81 squared away finally. After 4 months he finally had the great idea to go look at his neighbor's pickup that's rotting away in the tree and see how it's wired, then copy it. I guess it worked. Yay Kenny!!!
haha, i'm doing well Pat! spent all day pushing cow manure in a payloader w/ no a/c and amazingly enough, that counts as a good day for me lol. how things going on ur end? any progress on ur old truck?
I'm doing okay Kenny. Just in the planning stages with the truck, seeing what I'm going to need, parts and tools wise. Should be starting late next month (I hope!). Sounds like you had a...um...interesting day....LOL!
Took Ol' Blue over to my uncle's last night for my cousin's birthday party. As we were sitting outside playing cards their neighbors were out racing their Grand Am's and the like up and down the gravel road. They quit when Blue fired up and went out there. None of them wanted me meet me on the highway.....so I left a pair of healthy black marks. I estimate 120 feet where the right one ends, the left one goes on for a bit but not as dark....
Has anyone been turning wrenches? I have been, but not on my own junk......oh the curse of being a mechanic.
Anyway, I'm in the planning stages again. I might be getting excited for nothing, but here's the deal. My uncle bought a pretty clean '68 F-100 with a six and a three speed. He wants to give it a little something under the hood and after I gave him a ride in Ol Blue he thought that might do nicely. He's asked me more than once what I want for my engine and tranny. I really don't want to sell him my tranny since it wasn't professionally rebuilt and makes me wonder sometimes.......but I might, if he goes for my price. If all this goes through I will need another engine and tranny for my pickup.
As it happens, there's a 74 Highboy with a 360 and a 76 1 ton with a 390/4bbl sitting rotting away within 3 miles of my house, and they both belong to family members. I'm thinking I could rob one of those, tear it down and get a stroker kit from Surival Motorsports, port my heads out or get edel's, get a good intake and throw a 750ish carb on it. I'd still have to find another tranny and probably get it gone thru....the right way this time.
If I wasn't so broke it wouldn't be a big deal. I need to quit spending my paycheck on the tool truck!!!!!
It's a 2wd (1 ton...come on Pat, you obviously don't know your Ford history very well) dually. As for the tranny it's got the granny 4 speed. I don't know that it's in the best shape either. This truck spent it's whole life under a Smeal chasis and was used as a boom truck for Seim Irrigation & Well Drilling.
Oddly enough, my '69 and this '74 were both used at Seim Irrigation as well...
I'm also watching a Streetmaster on ebay. This one (hopefully) won't get away......
Just curious Jake. I already have a four speed. I'd like to figure out a way to adapt a later model 5 speed manual and 2 speed transfer case to the 390 for the 67.
