Thats right I forgot you had the GT Heads. Have you looked at headers for it? Someone told me that they made a Header for the FE that allows you to bolt it right up to the old exhaust without any mods. Have you heard that?
Also Pat, who on the site just bought the 56 F100? (I can't remember.) I am getting ready to put my LMC order in. It is large enough that I will not have any freight cost so if you need anything let me know. I will also be getting new fenders for the 69 so if your interested in mine you are welcome to them. they do have some rust popping through but could be fixed.
I'll have to check around on that 56, I can't remember either. Right now, I'm not ready to start buying stuff, I need to get the truck tore down this summer and see what she'll need. If nothing else, I could always just make a run down to Kansas, and pick the stuff up! I think they'll let you do that anyway!
I've heard that somebody makes long tube headers for the FE for these trucks, I'll have to do a search in the FE forum.
I can understand his wanting to keep it. After you see and drive mine Pat you may want to grab that one for your 67. The Cam I am going to put into this one with the heads will push about 420 ft lbs of torque at 2000RPM. As fired up as I am getting about this, it may end up getting done much sooner!
You ought to push more than that. I'd have to dig it out for sure, but my mild 390 pushes 400 ft lbs according to the dyno sims. I can dig it out of the FE forum tomorrow.
Post #13. I'm just running a stock "S code" intake on regular gas. That calculates 438 ft lbs @ 3500 and 402 ft lbs @ 2000. I'd believe it. It pulls strong, and really wakes up after about 3000. I think I need a better intake though. I really feel that's what's holding me back. I'd like to run the 1/4 first though and get some times so I know where I'm at.
After an intake I'd be inclined to do 4.10 gears. I think it would really launch out of the hole better (or make my tires nothing but smoke). Besides, it can't get much worse than 7 mpg can it?
Haha, mileage. Funny that came up. I'm really looking at some ideas for my Dodge. As you all may or may not know the "Hemis" don't really get the greatest mileage. I've done quite a bit of reading on a Dodge forum that alot of guys like to put a resistor inline with the AIT sensor. I'm really thinking of doing this. I guess it helps give you more power by tricking the computer into thinking it's colder outside, and depending on what resister you use it can be anywhere from 11 degrees to 22 degrees or better. I'm also thinking of putting a tuner on it, but I don't know if I can justify the $300 + for one.
Once I get the 428 built I think I may take it to a local dyno shop and have them break it in and dyno it. Would be interesting to watch, see what the best numbers are and have it all down on paper.
I think its around $400 for a half a day. He will set it up, brake it in (if its a new engine), put different carbs on it (what ever carbs you have) and tune it for maximum output. You also need to bring your own fuel, unless you want to purchase the $12 a gallon fuel he has. Of course I do not know for sure on this as I have never done it but do have a few buddies who have.
Just about forgot - Got the new box for my 56 last week. Unpacked everything today and it looks very nice. If anyone is in need of a pretty nice original box for a 56 F100 I have one I am looking to unload.
Pat - Checked with the guy today - $350 for a half a day. If your wanting to do an FE he takes them to Grand Island. The guy there has all the correct things to hook them up with no problem.
