I'm just getting the bottom part.....I should have plenty of room (for now anyway). If anyone cares, Kenny has the 58" in blue. It's nice but since him and I have about the same amount of tools and he's already talking about a side locker and top box I'm going with the 67"er.....
Anyone got new progress worth posting up?.......cause I sure don't. I guess I could show you my empty bank account. I'm fixin' to get me one of these so called "jobs" here shortly and that should help. Lord knows I want to get this '69 done cause I found my next one......
Well, no real progress on the 67 yet, but it's definitively in the hard planning stage. Made up a list of things I want to do/change on it. I have my sandblaster on my Christmas list for the wife, so, hopefully, I can get it torn down, and get started on the frame next spring.
So what has everyone been up to in these winter months? I got bored and decided I'd polish/straighten every piece of chrome on the old girl. So far I've got both headlight surrounds done. I'm gonna do the grille, bumper, body trim, and interior trim. I'll let you decide which is before and after (not bad from a crappy phone camera)
I've also ordered the Volvo dash kit for a radio installation so I can do that whenever I get to it. For those who don't know you can use a Volvo installation kit (part number 99-9222) and flip it upside down. It looks almost factory (like they'd have such hi-tech devices in 1969). I also might make an order to LMC before too long for the little odds and ends things I need (weatherstriping, etc). I guess we'll see what the bank account looks like.
It actually took more time to remove them than it did to clean them up. I'm using one of those big buffing ***** that goes on a power drill along with Mothers Hard Steel polish (or something like that). I hit it with windex first to clean all the bug guts and dust off then hit it with the polish. It works pretty well. I'm sure the grille will be more time consuming. There are scratches and chips in those headlight pieces, but hey - they're 40 years old!!! I think I'm just gonna leave em like that.....you won't see those from 15 feet (or when I roll by you at 90 mph)
I'm pretty excited to see what it all looks like when I get done. There will definitly be pictures. If I set the headlights surrounds next to the grille there is a pretty big contrast.
I'm also no where close to done. I may break out some steel wool and see what I can do with that. I figure it doesn't cost me much (just my time) and it's something I can do and still be working on it.
69 F100: I bought a 428 for it - It will be getting a pair of CJ Aluminum Heads on it, picked out a healthy little cam last night, aluminum intake, 750 Holly and some nice headers to hook up the duel exauhst. Pluged in the numbers into my desk dyno and when its done will be pounding out some pretty impressive Torque numbers right out of the hole. Of course it will not be getting put in until after the 56 has a lot more work done on it.
56 F100 - Pulled the fenders off the box and got the one I will use in the body shop. Have my order together for LMC and will be ordering a new box, right rear fender and numerous other things the first of April. The Hood and Cab goes into the body shop in April to have the Cowls cut out and new welded in Then off for media blasting. Goal is to have the Chassis sitting in my garage by Cruise night with engine, tranny and completely finished.
I will post some pictures of the 56 when I get it out for its journey to the body shop.
Jake - If I drop dead before it gets in the 69 I will leave it too you - You just can't tell my wife what I have invested in it! Got to keep this one on the QT!

George, I'm glad you were able to find a motor, I don't think my brother in law wanted to get rid of that 428 at my mother in laws. I don't think he needs it, but he is a pack rat, and hates getting rid of anything, even though he'll never use it.
I can understand his wanting to keep it. After you see and drive mine Pat you may want to grab that one for your 67. The Cam I am going to put into this one with the heads will push about 420 ft lbs of torque at 2000RPM. As fired up as I am getting about this, it may end up getting done much sooner!
Thing about it, though, it he'll probably never use that motor, and he knows it. That's what irritates me about it. I'm looking forward to seeing yours when it's done! I have that 390 for mine, with the GT heads on it, so that should be plenty for mine!
