Boats, Waverunners, Snowmobiles, Motorcycles and other toys like those are IMO luxury items that are purchased using liquid assets that the manufacture produces at high profit margins without, if any, constraints from EPA, NHTSA and other governing bodies that mandate stricked regulations on road vehicles.

Diesel truck are IMO considered a luxury item as well i.e. why spend the extra capital on a Diesel when you can get a V8 or V10? However, the manufactures will at least commit to a 5/100 warranty to make it attractive for the consumer.

If the consumer knowingly abuses the terms of the warranty then IMO why invest in the extra capital?

They tried to void my entire warranty, were they should only have voided my powertrain warranty.
It's illegal for Ford to void your entire warranty. Now a dealer can flag your truck, and an individual dealer can refuse service for various reasons. But no you can't lose your entire bumper to bumper warranty for nothing more than removing the DPF.

As for the Fed, well they can fine you for removing the DPF also.

It's not just the federal boys you'll have to lookout for, it's the local municiple folks that have seen the increase in Diesel vehicle sales and will do whatever it takes to cash in on the rule book police, just like the Big Oil companies that are now pricing Diesel as the most expensive fuel on the market.

Which is why my Trans Am with long headers, no cats, bypassed secondary 02s and a loud muffler passes emissions.....

For some people a diesel truck may be a luxury item that they don't need, but for people like me who actually use their truck for work and not just for getting groceries it's a necessity. A V-10 could get the work done, I know because I've had 3 in the last 7 years, but after purchasing my diesel I'm paying half the amount I did on fuel when I had a gasser. And with the way the agricultural market has been lately I need the savings in fuel.

So in one aspect I agree with you, but in another I don't. The majority of diesel trucks out there are not being used to their potential, and a gas engine could easily take their place. But for people who use their trucks to pay their bills it's not a luxury item, it's an investment.

I live in the worst or best place (depending on your point of view) in regards to emmission laws, The local police,CHP ,Sheriff. Have no training, or care to do roadside smog checks.
The worst i have seen in all my years is at the street races .They in rare casses give out.
"fix it tickets". Then you have to get it signed off within 90 days. No 10k fines no FED's, The check and sign off are free ,If you do nothing within 90 days, it turns in to a small fine . After you pay fine (under 150.00), off you go without even fixing it. Also note after first ticket, you can't get reticked for same thing untill process is complete. I love America

If your Dealer or A company removes smog stuff, or you do bogus smog checks then look out (deep pockets). But as for a customer modding his truck and getting a 10k fine, lost truck .ect...or whatever I just can't see it happening.

They tried to scare the Harley guys with Fed fine B.S for years, Ever hear a Quiet Harley with stock mufflers ? Me either.

First issue: Here we go again You are using the SCT LiveWire and want Ford to fix your problem. I asked for you to provide me a Vin in confidential to back your issues with the dealer, you never replied.

Second issue: Hate and Discontent The thread served no purpose but to incite or attack members including myself.

3rd issue: Trucks been flagged A futile attempt serving no purpose with allegations Ford flagged your truck because of modifications.

If your truck is stock and you have a genuine issue with service or the vehicle in general we are here to help.

If you wish to modify your existing vehicle I am more than willing as are others to point out the problems and what steps you should take to avoid failures. New performance products are on the market and launched everyday, even ones you know nothing about are being tested at this time.

I do take the stance that I can enjoy or modify any existing vehicle I own. I do so at my own expense.

I do not support ones argument that after modifying their vehicle that a dealer denied or suspended their warranty. I also do not support attacks on an automaker for an inferior design that failed under conditions beyond the manufactures intended use.

Even though I've butted heads w/ Max in the past. I have to agree with him on this - You had to know this was gonna happen if you had a serious problem.

Agree with Max and D-Max on this. You make those mods...you should expect the warranty to be removed along with the parts that you removed. What did you expect?

Here is a case...where FORD is in the right. Keep those warranty costs down...by denied warranty claims based on mods to the 6.4L PSD. Well done FORD!
