Ford Truck Enthusiasts (FTE) is a Family Friendly web site.
Do not post mean-spirited, badgering, foul language, sexually explicit, racial epithets, derogatory or defamatory content, in any form.
The word baiting used to be in there.
Why am I taking this personal ?
Because they are making it personal.
As another Regular user I can hand out Neg rep if I so choose, but I refuse to stoop to that level.
In the final analysis - its just a nifty thing that makes it even more fun to post.

I've been a scoundrel before, it wouldn't bother me too much to be one again.
The notoriety is killer!
At any rate, awareness of the system has been boosted by this discussion.

As soon as the 4th green square came up <> Zap
It's called Baiting and you know what happens then?
I'm sure they would really like me to post their names.
A) you are a better person than all of them (combined!)
B) you are not stooping to their level (and that upsets them more)
C) you have "EARNED" all your rep
D) you are still near the top
They need to grow up and get over this "thing" they have. I know who they are (it is BLATANTLY OBVIOUS) and they need to let it go. Dennis is the BEST thing about FTE since Ken. He has worked EXTREMELY HARD around here and people need to get off his back. Just because he told you not to do something doesn't mean you need to give him negative feedback. Grow up! He was an admin and what he says goes. If you don't like it GO SOMEWHERE else. We would be better off without you! Geez...

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Ken Payne himself is about fifteen places down from the top of the list when ordered by reputation. I can think of no reason why someone who has given so much to so many should not have more points...
WE CAN FIX THAT!

I wouldn't necessarily call negative rep "baiting" though. If this was the case I really doubt Ken would include that feature in this forum. I think sometimes the use of negative rep is appropriate. Like a while back when I gave Dennis a negative rep for a post he made reprimanding our chapter for a thread about midgets. I believe he commented about how the thread was offensive to the little people. My issue wasn't that we were reprimanded but that Dennis had several pictures in his gallery at the time which were offensive and one was most definitely not within FTE guidelines. So I posted a negative rep. I don't remember the exact words I commented, something about people in glass houses . . .blah blah. But Dennis stepped up and promptly removed the pictures and we've gotten along fine since then. I've also positive repped him on several occasions, once for recommending a fine pub when I was in London, another time for helping us with an issue in our chapter forum. But I think the bottom line was that people in positions of authority are held to a higher standard. If a cop pulls me over for swerving and I smell beer on his breath do I not say anything about it? But I think now that Dennis doesn't have to play the "bad guy" anymore he probably won't experience this any longer. It's going to be nice for him to be a regular Joe for a while, just like the rest of us.

Although it does seem odd that even after you stepped down you still got a negative. What thread was it for Dennis? Can you post a link?
Its time to get some perspective in the matter, let it go and have this topic die. I assume everyone here is mature enough not to let a few words rule how they feel -- if not it will on result in burning bridges.
