Reps and infractions

Could somebody please explain where to find how the rep and infraction thing works? I noticed my reps from Krewat and some other people disappeared... and i'm not sure what exactly an infraction even means.

Also I have no idea what the rep thing even means other than it gives you points... are these said cool points? Idk I guess this is something i've been wondering about and never quite understood, hope someone can help.

Oh however I have noticed a direct correlation between reps and infractions lol. I'll get mad reps on a post, then I get infracted for contraveneing guidlines? Is there even a guidlines list?

As you gain more rep, you'll notice that it pushes them off the bottom of the list, so you can't really go back and see where you got your first repping, so to speak.

Negative rep is typically given by users who haven't been around long and are looking to start trouble. I very rarely see anyone give negative rep, and folks that do seem to end up run off by other members.

The FTE site guidelines were required reading when you created your account, and I bet they're available on the main page or up there under FAQ.

C'mon man. Most every moderator has a link to the User Guidelines in their signature. That also includes every post rep and infraction. They are at the bottom of every page. And it has been pointed out to you that you were required to read and agree to them when you registered. So really, there is no excuse for not being aware of the Guidelines.

Once you refamiliarize yourself with the guidelines, maybe you'll understand why a thread like this one isn't such a good idea either. As it generally brings you more hurt. But occasionally it's good to let a thread like this stand as a reminder to folks like yourself. So we're cool.

Wait ,,, as it turns out , you can't be disrespectful (to someone has been disrespectful to you)or another member (friend) (THE KING HERE )

It appears the user guidelines are flexible ,depending who you are ....

No offense intended , Ed

I wouldn't use infraction it will make disaster. We did at other forum that member was smartass and give me so to say I gave him 300 infraction in 2 mins He quit after 40 infraction.

Negative rep Don't think about do that. 1 member gave me so I give him fair. To say he was crybaby.

If you have issues with that members just ignore. Don't think about give negative rep or infraction that will make worse.

I've had the desire to give a negative rep to two different individuals.
I didn't.

Why??? I don't have a clue.

The statement, "Give someone enough rope, and they'll hang themselves", certainly applies.

Rep is worth exactly what you paid for it, whether it's positive or negative.

Well my question was if I get enough red and yellow boxes do I get kicked off? I guess I would never negative rep anyone but a good friend because i'd think its funny lol

But I guess I was just wondering the point... I wish someone woulda told me I could trade reps for asian massages... I guess I've been missin out.

However Horsepuller, I understand all the moderators have a job to do and if werent for yall we wouldn;t have as cool of forum (we'd have them full size chevy jerks coming over here and making me punt infants off overpasses) but is the whole rep system functional or just for show?

I got a good friend over on the saturn forums and he's the biggest dip in the world... somehow they made him a moderator... I just dont know the political functioning of all this business. I just kind of show up say and share what I got too, have a goodtime, and go about my life. Not sure if there's anything more to all this?

What they neglected to mention is that the massage is administered by a sumo wrestler.................which is great if you're into that sort of thing, otherwise not so much.

That's really about it. The green reputation points and even the red ones are really just an attempt at social networking. They really should be called popularity points. It's just a way of giving someone acknowledgement for a good post. Rep is one of those things that you can only accumulate by giving it away.

Rep points are given by both other members and moderators. You don't win a prize for having the most and you can't be kicked out for having too little. Negative rep is rarely given but it usually tells you more about the sorry life of the individual that gives it than any wrongdoing of the recipient himself.

Infractions are a whole 'nuther world. They can only be given out by moderators or administrators. They are serious business. No moderator is going to give out the infractions guide book if there were such a thing. So please don't ask. If you follow the Posting Guidelines, use good judgement and common sense you'll never need to worry about infractions. If there is ever a doubt about what is appropriate to post, you can ask a moderator or administrator. Believe it or not, we are really here to be your guides to FTE. We're not here just to harsh your mellow.
