Would be interested to hear from anyone that has actually stalled after the new flash.

The reason I ask this, reducing the idle speed in the calibration is one of the easiest tricks calibration engineers use to reduce fuel consumption.
The only offset is that you have potential stall issues, and/or rough idle issues.
That is why so many manufacturers are plagued with stall issues on new vehicles, when they are on this ever important quest of reducing fuel consumption, they will try and take the easy options first...

Customz, what ambient temperature was it when it almost stalled?

No one else (including myself) has a stalling issue. My idle RPM's have remained unchanged... and I would suspect that somthing else is the problem?

1) Bad fuel?

2) Water in fuel

3) Dirt in fuel (plugged filter)

4) Cold weather where you live?

5) Dealer "bumped" or pulled something loose by accident in engine compartment?

Good luck, but go back to the dealer ASAP.

My idle speed stayed the same with the new flash at 640 to 650.

I got my truck back from the dealer last week a 04/04 truck and he said they would update it with the latest flash. I 'haven't looked under the hood for a sticker, nor do I know where to look exactly, but I am not happy. My truck is louder at idle, idles lower with more of an "old diesel" sound, has considerable more exhaust smell, is smoking more, and has lost a good bit of power. The only positive I notice out of this is that my shifting is perfectly smooth. You can barely even notice the shifts if you aren't watching the tach. I tried to spool up my turbo though to get out into heavy traffic and my truck would nor rev up past 2000 rpms with the brakes applied. I even tried floorboarding it and it just wouldn't rev any higher. Before the trip to the delaer I could easily turn over the tires if not careful while spooling up to pull into heavy traffic. Mileage may be a little better too, but I want my power back. Even at a rolling acceleration it is sluggish. I swear I feel like I am drivibg a totally different truck. It reminds me of the 7.3 PSD in performance and the old pre-powerstrokes in sound. I'm ****ed, and am calling the dealer Monday. Where can I find that sticker?

I got my 03(1-03-03 engine build,Indy) flashed last week after SBV45's results. Could not be happier. Definitely quicker, especially from a stop. No hesitation at all, no smoke. I tried to be real easy on the mileage for about 50 miles, overhead was showing 18+ in mostly town/rural driving, saw 20+ for a while. But then, I started playing with the new found power. Too much candy for me, down to 16.....on overhead, which is usually 1mpg optimistic in my truck.Made 80+mph dash one morning. Don't really care at this point. I always got 16-18mpg anyway, now my truck runs like it did when I bought it. Don't know about the tow/haul shifting yet, it was severe/harsh in 2to1 downshifts. Waiting for better weather to hook up the bassin rig. Last and only flash was Oct.03, lost PI,power, and some mileage. All other issues resolved at that point., mainly rolling idle. That was after losing #8 injector at 1100 miles, got turbo rebuild also. So far, no more injector problems with the old style injectors. Keeping an eye on my oil level though.

My truck was perfect for me before the flash, I wish they wouldn't have messed with it. I am somewhat let down now by my truck. I guess I will have to buy a microtuner to put the smile back on my face.

My 04 250 build date 11/03 was reflashed to correct a problem(turns out it wasn't the problem) and the only diff I see is that it is much louder at idle while it's in drive. Power seems the same, milage pretty close. Although it idles louder, the rpms at idle did not change. I really don't get this.

I just spoke to my dealer and the service writer said the computer doesn't show a reflash was done. He said they did have problems trying to reprogram my PCM for my 315 tires, and couldn't get the program to work right. He said bring it in and they will check it to make sure. I know that the truck is not running the same though. I guess we'll see what happens. If they still claim they didn't flash it I am going to tell them to flash it and see what happens. It sounds like I don't have much to lose based on everyone else's posts. I guess I'll just make sure to give them this latest flash number.

R1ZOOM! You might want to have your transmission checked if its doing what you are saying. Mine has been in the shop for three weeks getting the transmission rebuilt. clutches were fried in it.

No, my transmision is perfect, couldn't ask for a smoother one. My biggest complaint is a lack of power that I used to have.

I took mine in today to get my computer re-flashed for my surging idle, they just called and said it's done, and they recalibrated my speedo for 315's, so I'll let you know what I think soon!

Those of us that are touting the new flash probaby had the "pleasure" of getting the Oct 03 flash which took a LOT Of power and 2 mpg and the pilot injection away...

this one brings all but the pilot injection back...

and then the predator makes up for the loss of pilot injection in that it's so much fun NOT to idle

ZOOM, I heard that the SD's with the diesel cannot be programmed to compensate for different size tires. Maybe it's just that aftermarket tuners can't do it and Ford can. Have you verified the speedo and odometer? I would be very interested in exact results from this b/c I want to put on larger tires when the time comes and was concerned with the speedo and mileage being off and not being able to correct it. Thanks for any info you can share, Mat.
