The techs may get the latest flash by DVD or via download over the Ford network. They need to check the 'hotline' to see what is available. If you have a good tech they will do that. If not, they will give you what they have. I make it a point to develop a good relationship with my dealer. I happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by to tell them I was happy with the update and service. Always helps. I also sent an email.

I finally got an MPG update from the new flash. Pre flash I was getting around 14 mpg, post flash 17.5 mpg. Not bad. It also put a lot more kick in the pants.

Dr_Pain - Well, I only made it through one tank before I reinstalled the Predator, but the hand calculated increase showed 1.5 mpg increase, probably 70/30 HWY/city driving.

Thanks TN_Jeeper.

You basically are confirming what I have been reading and experiencing. Let us know what your results are with the new flash fuel strategies in combo with the tuner.

Got flashed today. Running great. The only thing is it ends 3u7a-12a650-FTD. Is this the lastest? It's running great, it was before, now more low end muscle. As long as it keeps it up, who cares. May 03 motor.

After getting latest flash...here are my MPG numbers.

City - solid 16mpg if not slightly more.

Highway - sold 18mpg up to 19mpg (73mph with cruise).

I drive a 2003 Excursion with full 40 gallon tank.

After flash, over head meter know adjusts more often "on the fly" to give better and updated average readings than before.

Personally, I see no downside to the latest "secret flash" for our trucks. I had the October flash (bad one), December - better, but still poor... and now the new one which is perfect. Drove 500 miles today - all highway and got between 18 - 19mpg the whole way!!!

With a full tank (40 gallons) my fuel capacity is now starting off with a 773 mile range based on new mpg average rating - which also has been improved. Now if my bladder could last 773 until my first fuel stop!!!

Tow/Haul has been tweaked and is NOT as aggressive as previously programmed. Took a couple of trips over the past few dates to have the tranny relearn shift points... other than that... it is a good flash to get.

Go for it guys... it's a keeper!!!

Thanks,

Jeff

I don't think I got the new flash. I am new to the PSD. Just got mine in Sept. Had it flashed 2 weeks ago but cannot find any sticker under the hood. I have an expedition and just switched dealerships for service becuase I was getting screwed around with the expy.

Anyhow, my truck has not seen this amazing increase in MPG or performance that you all talk about.
I averaged 14.5 MPG mostly highway before the flash and about the same after the flash (haven't finished the tank yet.) How can I get the newest flash? Ask the service manager if I can speak with the tech? Any tips on approaching this?

I really, really want to get this new flash. I have an '03 F250 with engine build of 1-7-03.

Any info is greatly apprecaited!

Just had my '04 Super Duy "flashed" on Monday. No word on the mileage but bog down from the start is gone. Dealer was very helpful, especially when given some quotes from the FTE website.

My thanks to all for the discussions regarding "flash".

New FTE flash for manual

I have a July 03 6.0L but is a manual. Is there a new FTE flash for it? My mileage used to sit right about 18 MPG but lately (past few months) has dropped to 16.5-16.8 or so. This is my first PSD so I dont have any comparrison as far as tubo lag and the sort. Does anyone have the number off the latest flash? Thanks for the help.

There is no FTE Flash, wish we had our own...however it is a Ford Flash the guys are talking about. The new Ford flash would help your truck!~
The other thing would be to call MotorHaven and order a tuner for you truck...you will be amazed at the performance.

I got the new flash yesterday. More power, more noise at idle and a drone at cruise speeds. The Lie-o-meter has gone up 1 mpg after having it installed it at 1/2 tank. I will report the mpg difference when I have the figures.

The only down part on accelerating from a stop it dropped idle and almost stalled 2x. I have not yet experienced this before the new flash. Hopefully it won't happen anymore.
