A New Flash is coming!!!!!!!!

Tonight when i picked up the truck from Dealer (Fairway Ford, Placentia Ca.) The Service Writer/Tech stated that Ford was to have produced a new "fix all" flash by the end of July. He further stated that seeing how the end of July is quickly approaching, reality is that the flash will probably be September. But he did say it's coming. Furthermore, we discussed the number of reapirs that they are seeing on these vehicles has dramatically dropped. He feels Ford has really ironed out the '03/'04 issues. And any remaining issues should be fixed by this flash including bringing back some MPG's and quieting down the truck (as originally designed). I know many of you have been waiting for this so thought i 'd share this as confirmation; you are correct, it's coming.

I told him that too!!! I said don't get my hopes up to be dashed upon the rocks of the Great Ford Lake. And he promised on a stack of PSD Service tickets he wasn't lying. I'll give him heck if he doesn't come through. This dealership is unbelieveable, they are good. Been dealing with them for Three (3) years on Three (3) different vehicles and always FIRST CLASS. But I completey understand your skepticism.

I'll post on 2005 hopefully in about three weeks. My brother got confirmation that factory began his 2005 PSD build on Monday of this week. So he should have his truck according to the dealer on or about August 20th. It is going to be good looking even if it doesn't run very good!!!!!!!!

a certain place referenced in the bible will freeze over before I let Ford reflash my truck.

It runs great and I'm not gonna let them break it

I would hope he is correct...the flash will help...usually by now Ford would not be worring about the 03's I wonder if it is really for the 03's and newer.

I'll believe it when I see it! Ford has not delivered on previous statements about the fixall flash. I have been happy with the service I was getting from the dealership I use. ( I haven't needed to be there in the last 10,000 miles). But I don't believe a thing out of Ford regarding flash updates.

I am definately looking forward to mroe mpg's. But I hope they can fix that without quiteing my truck. I would have bought the forign powered Cheby if I wanted a quite diesel. Isn't one of the reasons to have a diesel besides reliability, towing etc... because it is nice and loud?

Congratulations....

Not withstanding anything to the contrary contained herein,
I do not authorize any flashing/reflashing of any of this
Truck's computers; This prohibition is of the essence.

I bought the truck for a quieter diesel at idle than the previous powerstroke. It never has been as quiet for me as the dodge or the chevy. Now I can't even order a burger at a drive through without turning off the beast. I do like the noise but this is my third diesel. I would like it to be a little quieter if the technology is out there, which it is.

Hello,

I have a 2004 F-350 build date of 2/16/04. It came from the factory with flash update RC1 (Running Change 1 which was put into production 2/8/04). With this in mind, I have the louder idle and the softer tow/haul (which I happen to like). Truck ran good, but for an erratic cruise control problem.

On 7/28/04 I had the new flash upgrade for the true 2004 trucks done. Part # is 4U7A-12A650-BFA. It is commonly known as the 'July Flash' and as RC2 (Running Change 2).This was to address the erratic cruise issue. There are other minor things included in this flash, too (it of course also includes everything in RC1).

Now, I am not sure this is the 'new' flash your Tech is talking about, but it is the latest flash for the 2004's.

How does it run?.....FANTASTIC! Non-towing the erratic cruise is fixed. Idle is no louder, matter-o-fact, it MIGHT even be a tad bit quieter as I get to run it more. Performance is BETTER than when new, which is surprising as it always ran well.

I am leaving Monday on a long distance trip towing heavy! I will report back when we return around August 10th and let you know how it performs towing.

* Just a note on the tow/haul. I know many people complain about the old versus new tow/haul. I have only had the new version. But, I will say I really like it. When not towing the two down shifts that occur at about 45 MPH and 25 MPH are non-intrusive. When I hook up the heavy trailer (close to 14K), I can get it to downshift at well over 45 MPH by tapping the brake. Works good!

what is this reflash supposed to do. My truck was built the week od 6-14-04. will I need this flash or just keep running it till I see a problem? I have 3600 miles on it now have towed for over 2000 miles. the truck runs good tows great it is better than my 1999 7.3L was. I am just a little unhappy with the milage. It's no better than my 1999 was. Has anyone else noticed that there spedo seams off by a couple of miles. At 70 on the spedo my truck is running about 66.
