OASIS report is the service records for your truck. Anything that was ever done to the truck at the dealer should be on there. By the way, I just had mine flashed with the latest. It is running better and I think I am getting better mileage. Havent filled up since last flash.

Your dealer is talking without being informed. This new flash gave me the mileage back that the previous flashes took away. Same with accelerator responsiveness and performance. Who did you talk with at the dealer?

Diesel service writer. His point was basically if it ain't broke don't fix it. He may not be talking about the FTE flash, but past flashes that people just complain about after recieving them and saying their previous flash was better. I just don't know what else to compare the turbo lag with.I am getting 14.3 mpg mixed w/ 3500 miles on ODO.

JZ don't worry my first tank was 13.0 mpg and it has gone up every fill up since. This tank I may get 15!

I wouldn't go by what a service writer says. My experience is as we learn moe about our trucks, with the help of FTE, we know more than the service writers. Talk to the diesel tech or service manager.

my X had only 2 flashes thanks to our family friend who's a ford service manager. he recomended to do the dec 03 and the latest flashed which is a very good improvement from the dec flashed. the fuel mileage went up from 14.5 to around 17.5 city and hwy mixed driving.( no hauling of any kind) power is better, no hesitation in any speed, no smoke unless you floor it, the only down side is that there is a little roar @ around 2000 rpm/ 70mph. from my expirience on this latest flash, JUST DO IT!!!

Why is everyone so surprised. Doesn't the flash number end with the letters FTE.

Yes, good one, but only for 03 trucks with auto and non California. Other models end with different letters.

I just had mine updaed with the latest flash and in the very short drive I have had it on so far, I give it a big thumbs up. Seems smoother, with much better response and no hesitation. Like everyone else said.

As others have mentioned, I ge the impression that this flash is more secretive for whatever reason. I have a friend who works as a service writer at the dealership and this time he had to embellish a little on the work request, as he put to make it right with Ford.

TN_Jeeper,

Do us a favor and make a note fo your MPG improvements. As for me I remember posting that I have had an almost 2 mpg improvement so far and that is a rough direct calculation on city mileage only.

The only thing I have noticed that might be a negitive is like Riceburner noted above. There is a little drone at highway speeds under steady throttle. I was thinking it might have something to do with my lift, but it wasent there before. Maybe tires too? Dont know for sure. Barely noticable.

Mine is at the dealer right now for recalls and the 01-13-04 flash identifiedas a recall by oasis report.

After reading this post I asked my service writer if I could get the newest flash instead of the 1/13/04 and he said yes.

How can i tell if I got this flash, the FTE? Will the repair invoice state the part number, or flash number?
