Angry 3rd OIL LEAK......

Well its leaking again. I have had the truck back for a couple weeks and it is already leaking oil again. I noticed some fluid on the ground when i got this evening under my truck. So i got down on the ground and looked and sure enough it is oil again. This makes the 3rd time this durn thing has leaked at the back of the motor.

I heard from the DSB last week and they excepted my case. A person from Ford called yesterday to tell me where the hearing was going to be held and the date. I thought the DSB would do that not Ford????? SHe also wanted to know if the truck was still experiencing the problems listed by the DSB. I told her yes it was.

O well i hope the DSB see it my way. I do want another 6.0, maybe i just like the abuse. LOL, na i think i just got a lemon. Just wanted to let ya'll know.

Has anyone heard what is causing the numorus oil leaks??? Is something machined wrong?

Wonder whats goin on w/ this engine in the Fords. Ive seen alot of 365's come through and not a one w/ an oil leak. Most have over 50K miles on them. I take that back i had one leaking oil from the breather so i replaced the o-ring and hasnt been leaking since.

This one is leaking at the bellhousing. Its not gushing but just a steady wet spot. You can see where it has leaked out and got on the tranny and baked on. This thing only has 5,900 miles on it and it has been in the garage for over 55 days. O'well someone had to get this lemon....

I've got my 3rd and 4th leaks right now. 3rd time off the front of the motor and a new leak on the back of the motor. I've also got my DSB date so I'm not going to worry too much about these leaks until I get through the hearing as that was not my major concern.

There are a lot of lemons in the 6.0 ranks so good luck with your next one, if you go that way.

The truth of my statement is born out in this 6.0 forum here and forums elsewhere, IMO. I'll sure look at your numbers to the contrary, though.

My numbers are the total 6.0's on the road.
The issue with taking this or any other forum......for numbers.

It is only a minor number of 6.os that are represented here.
What the numbers are for a 6.0 sold...........maybe 250K and how many are here saying they have problems!!

Deduction says there is no way the problems are the majority…..period

That may be. But it could also be that this is quite representitive of the overall population of 6.0 owners. Or maybe it's even worse than what we see here. Nobody but ford can prove it either way and they sure aren't going to say.

Is this the sky is falling proverb.
I see far more on the road then off………in-fact, have not seen one on the side of the road.\
Yes some have had problems, mine even has, still the truck for me.

Not at all. No more so than it is the "everything is blue skies and smooth sailing" proverb.

Just because you see a truck on the road doesn't mean it's problem free. I'm DSBing mine but I can still drive it. Just because it hasn't left me walking yet (close once) does not make it a good truck, either.

Hey, I'm glad your happy with yours. I wish I was too. If the motor was just reliable, I'd be okay with it. The PI issue and mediocre mileage bug me some but I could live with that, probably.

This is a true statement.

Yea, I will get another one if the DSB treats me right. I don't see how they couldnt' see something wrong with this truck with there is so much documentation on my truck having issue's. I do like the truck. It runs like a scalded dog. But just the surging thing and the oil leaking shouldn't be happening on a new truck. I don't think all 6.0's are bad more than likely just a handful of them. I would like to know how many ford has sold to date, and how many they have bought back.

I know we will never see any numbers like this...

I will have another PSD, one way or another. I do like these " BIG BEAST ". They just look like they demand respect coming down the road.

Jeb,

Let me know how the DSB treats you in your case. I think you said you have a date set for your hearing? If you can post it , when is your's?

I don't really want to give the exact date. Let's just say it's in the first 2 weeks of June.

Why would it matter what date it is?

I have also had the same leaking from the bell housing area. Ford finally found the culprit and had to replace the pan that is on the front of the engine. The pan was bent slightly and the oil would leak around the side of the engine and drip off of the bell housing. Finally repaired. Truck has been in service for 44 days now within 9 months. Had to pursue MN lemon law. Will definately get another one though!!!
