That is what makes this forum so much fun. You get the positive and the negative. You know, the glass is half full or is it half empty. You can count on Jeb to give you the half empty and Bob, with some backup, to give you the half full.
Ok, Ok, Ok, Congradulations on a positive resolution. With all the crap you went thru I'd have written the $ 256.00 on the spot (once I found a calculator) in case they change their mind.
Now...am I being goofy or does the divided by 120,000 represent Ford's anticipated life expectancy of the truck/motor?

this was also my first thoughts!!!! the value of the truck would be ZERO at 120,000mi to ford. im praying for many, many more than that!!!!

I think they picked a number they could easily defend. If you used 200,000 like I hope my truck will run, the cost is $156. The life expectancy number is really not much of a factor. The Mileage on the truck is the factor with the most effect on the final number.
Did they use the number actually paid for the truck or the window sticker?
The cost factor is what we paid for our truck with the life expectancy fixed at 120,000, each of us can figure by our mileage how we will come out if we accept Ford's anticipated offer.
Hey! What about emotional pain & suffering. i.e. the wife... "I TOLD YOU NOT TO BUY THAT BIG 'OL STINKY TRUCK"?
I think the chances in court to collect punitave damages might be good because Ford would likely settle to avoid the publicity and to avoid having the discovery process open their records which we would ALL like to see. That is, if you were reasonable in the amount you were trying to collect. If you went after them, you should do it in such a way that it made it a good business decision to pay you off.
This process is not for people who are impatient or can't keep paying payments on a truck they can't use. A law suit or Lemon Law hearings could literally take years.
My wife works at Tex DOT and says that people who win in the Lemon Law hearings are very rare.(she can't remember a single one)
