Glad to have you among us! Cruise through some of the other threads here and see what's happened so far. We are a pretty loose knit group so far, but being so spread out, its easy to be that way. We're workin on it though.
Hrrrmmmm are they hiring out there in the oilfield? I'm looking for a better job.... well, really just more money, I don't really care what the work is...
We're always hiring, if you can pass a drug test, and aren't opposed to working 12-18 hour days you can hire on... money is VERY good.
Working on a drill rig would be a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule or 14 and 14.. the pay is between 15-29 an hour
I work on the completions side, and days off are somewhat scarce. the pay is between 10-30/hr, but we work more hours than the drilling side of the oilfield. If you want you can PM me, and i'll give you the names of several companys in wyoming and maybe a few in montana that are hiring
I told you a little about myself and my truck in another thread, but I will add a few things. I am married and have 4 boys (2 of which live with my ex-wife). I spent 9 1/2 years in the Army as a mechanic (not many things in the active inventory I haven't worked on. I currently work for a motorcycle dealership in Great Falls, MT. I am about half way to my bachelors degree in information technology. Besides my truck I also ride a 2002 Yamaha 1100 V-Star custom. I am also looking for a better job.
You are looking for a better job? In Montana? OK....... rotsa ruck! I keep hoping my rich uncle would ever get out of the poor farm and leave me his fortune. Either that or I'd get struck by lightning and win one of the danged lotteries.
But as the proberbial saying goes...wish in one hand... dig in the catbox with the other...and see which one gets fullest fastest. (ok, that wasn't a good image)
Matt... you wanna work in the oil fields? Man, I'll tell ya. That is some rough work and stay off the rig's deck if ya can... pretty dangerous up there, so I'm told. A couple friends worked the fields for a while and they were a couple BIG boys. To hear them tell it, or whine about it (whatever), it ain't nothing I would have done even when I was a strong and less bright young man.
Whatever ya do if ya get on, take care and watch yer hiney and don't get no mud in yer eye.
Long time ago, I spent a summer working on a North Sea drilling rig. Hardest work I have ever done, and I did on leave from the military - i was glad when my 3 months was over, so I could get back to the unit for a rest.
The reason I had 3 months leave was I had just gotten back from a war, and they decided I needed compassionate leave.. I have no clue why, but I never argued with 90 days leave, with pay..
Hello every one I am new to this web site but not new to ford trucks. My name is Jeff and I currently own a '99 F-150 XLT 4door supercab 4X4 OFFROAD EDITION. I am originaly from Hamilton Mt and now stationed at Luke Air Force Base PHX AZ. I have lived in Az for about 3.5 years and still not yet used to the hot weather. My duty title in the Air Force is Crew Chief, I work the the 20 million $ F-16 fighting Falcon, I got about 4 years experience on the dam thing. Oh by the way I am 22 yrs old and lived in Hamilton until I joined the Military.
Anyways i just wanted to drop a line and say hi. Please feel free to check out my truck pics, i hope i can get some of my old '89 Ranger up on the site soon.
Welcome to the Drifters! I used to be a Crew Chief on UH-1 Huey's in the Army. But that was many moons past! Glad you joined us. Any member of the military is more than welcome to join us. I, for one, am quite familiar with being away from where you were born and raised. One day, you will return.
By the way...NICE truck! Not that I'm partial to 99's. Tell me... I'm thinking about dual exhaust sometime in the future. How does yours sound on the highway? I want something that is quietly mellow, so that it doesn't drive the wife nuts or drown out the calm of a ride in the toolies, but yet has a good throatiness when accelerating.
I think you would like a Magna flow then! My dual exhaust sounds pretty good, when u start the truck it roars to life with a deep mellow sound and then at idle it has a low rumble, cant really here it much when the windows are up but you know its there. Under light acceleration it has a deep throughty sound and under moderate to hard acceleration it gets loader and more aggressive but it still really doesnt protrude into the cab of the truck much. My friend that was just happening to be driveing next to me,when i kicked it into high gear says it sounded like a dragster. I think the whole idea of Magnaflow is for more sound to come out the rear end and less sound to come in the cab. I think they hit the bullseye, One of my friends had a 98 f-150 with the V6 and a Flowmaster Delta Flow2 and it sounded all drowned out and it was loud in the cab. I think the Magnaflow sounds a lot better especialy if you want a Deep aggressive sound but with out the loudness at cruising speed. As far as highway driving is concerned if your revs are above 3000 rpm then it gets a little louder the higher you go, but if you stay below 3000rpm then it will stay pretty quiet. Thats how it seems to work on my truck at least. But i have a cold air intake that adds to the sound so it might even be a little more quiet for some one that has a factory intake. I tell you what though, it will get noticed at the light when you hit the accelerator. I hope that helps a little, I don't know what exactly u want with the sound but Magnaflow might be the way to go.
Hi there Jeff. I'm am also from Hamilton. My wife and her family were all born and raised there. I moved there in 78. All tho I now live in Lolo, Hamilton is still home.
Yeah good jobs are scarce here, that'd for sure....now to find a job that pays to drink beer and fish...I'd be set.
Nice to see other military folks here. I started out working on the OH-58 (NG here in MT), moved into aircraft pneudraulics (pneumatic and hydraulic systems) while stationed with 82nd at Bragg and eventually ended up working on the MLRS in what was basically a third shop in Germany with 1 ID. In this last shop I worked on everything from humvees to 88's.

Wow! Hey I might have known some of your family, possibly. Hamilton was a small town at one point in time. Any body graduate from HHS that u know?
I actually introduced myself waaaaayyy back on the first page in January. I just thought I'd pop back in to say that my membership got approved, so now I officially belong to the HPD!
