Hi, I'm Chris Barber from Casper Wy. I grew up in Denver, Co and moved here about 12 years ago. I always looked at it as moving home. My dad was born in Hawk Springs, Wy in 1942 and my family has been in this state since the 1880's. I've been hanging out here at FTE for a few months now but haven't posted much.
I'm 41 years old and have been married for 21 years. I have three sons whose ages are 14, 16, and 20. I spent 1983-1989 in the Marine Corps working on A-6 medium bombers. I currently own and drive two Fords. A 1979 F150 4x4 shortbed, 400, 4-speed with quad shocks on the front, no lift, I also own and the wife drives a 1992 Explorer Sport, 4.0, 5 speed, no lift. I have owned many Fords since I was 15 along with other brands. I hope to meet all of you soon.
I think you would like a Magna flow then! My dual exhaust sounds pretty good, when u start the truck it roars to life with a deep mellow sound and then at idle it has a low rumble, cant really here it much when the windows are up but you know its there. Under light acceleration it has a deep throughty sound and under moderate to hard acceleration it gets loader and more aggressive but it still really doesnt protrude into the cab of the truck much. My friend that was just happening to be driveing next to me,when i kicked it into high gear says it sounded like a dragster. I think the whole idea of Magnaflow is for more sound to come out the rear end and less sound to come in the cab. I think they hit the bullseye, One of my friends had a 98 f-150 with the V6 and a Flowmaster Delta Flow2 and it sounded all drowned out and it was loud in the cab. I think the Magnaflow sounds a lot better especialy if you want a Deep aggressive sound but with out the loudness at cruising speed. As far as highway driving is concerned if your revs are above 3000 rpm then it gets a little louder the higher you go, but if you stay below 3000rpm then it will stay pretty quiet. Thats how it seems to work on my truck at least. But i have a cold air intake that adds to the sound so it might even be a little more quiet for some one that has a factory intake. I tell you what though, it will get noticed at the light when you hit the accelerator. I hope that helps a little, I don't know what exactly u want with the sound but Magnaflow might be the way to go.
jvoigt, Could you tell me what exhaust setup you got from MagnaFlow?
I don't know really!! I had Midas Custom make my dual swept exit's. Are you talking about the Muffler or the pipe set? See they actually modified straight back dual exhaust and made it sweep back at an angle, not pretty but it does the job.
I was actually curious about both the pipes and the muffler. Which muffler do you have? I am looking for something that doesn't interfere too much in the cab (The constant droning would probably make me fall asleep ) but I want to hear it if I stompin it.
My muffler is a single in and dual out "universal series" i believe, the pipes are just plain, i did not get the pipes from magnaflow. There is not to much droneing at all, it is fairly quiet in the cab for me. what you plan on doing for your exhaust setup? straight out the back, out the side etc....
yeah so i signed in here back in oct or so dont remember been about a year. was in iraq then now im back in germany. still miss my truck but got to drive it when i was on leave in aug. maybe someone here saw me i was in missoula for about a week then went to columbus and up the stillwater fishin. been awhile since ive been here so i figured id say hey and im back. GO GRIZ!
Welcome back from Hell. As a veteran myself, I salute you. And no... I missed you when you were back. You said you were fishing the Stillwater? You must have been near the big city of Kalispell then, since the Stillwater ends at the south end of town, joining up with the Flathead River at the end of Leisure Island.
thanks it wasnt hell but it wasnt fun either. i was on the other stillwater out near columbus. the eastern one. thanks for the support. hopefully we wont go back for ahile yet. ill be around planning a big rebuild for my truck so ill be here alot.
Missed you while you were in Missoula conter4x4. I guess thats because I don't know you. Glad to hear that you are not in Iraq anymore. And pray that you don't go back. In a few more days it will be one year since my nephew was killed over there. Nov 6,2003. You take care of your self.

Twolf sorry to hear about your nefew. im sure he was a good man and a dedicated soldier. i lost a few friends i concidered brothers out there. i know how hard it is. but god had something better in store for them all. on to greener pastures and god bless them all.
Thanks conter4x4. Since sat is one year, I was looking thru some of his stuff. It's goning to be a hard day. And yes, I beleive that God did have something better for him.
Seems like a lot of sadness going around. On saturday I will say a short prayer for your nephew and all my other brothers and sisters who have given their all during service to their country.
