Got into Oak Harbor around 0930. Diesel on base was 6.799 so we got fuel at Samcor for 5.999. Diesel running from 6.45 to 7.60 around here. Amazing since the refinery is within spitting distance and we drove right by it.

Howdy all. Retirement ceremonies complete. Son in Law is officially on terminal leave thru April 30 and then he’s officially done - transferred to Fleet Reserve. During the ceremony, CO awarded him with a Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal. When they piped him off station, he made us all walk down the ‘gangway’ with lined with all the sailors in his division standing at attention and saluting. The Warden and I plan on getting even tomorrow. Color Guard presentation and my Granddaughter singing the National Anthem. Son in Law wanting family to walk off / depart with him. A bunch of us gathered for dinner after the ceremony and a couple of hours of Celebration and cake at the Chiefs club. Included both Current, former Navy and family. We all had a lot of fun and a lot of memories. As if a part of the program the new P-8 Poseidon preps for take off on the same runways I flew off of in the P-3 Orion. Out with the old, the ancient and in with the new…
