Good chilly morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 32 under clear sky. Got home yesterday afternoon. Ran the gamut on the trip ranging from heavy deluge type rain to blizzard conditions. Temp at altitude was running 33 to 35 so no snow build up on the road. Some shoulder build up at the summit off road, slope at the Willamette Ski Resort was covered but didn't look like much and it won't last long if the sun hits it.
Both upper and lower deck builds are complete and looking good. UT is full of good salvage, so I have to get it unloaded at some point. Enough there for some other things I want to do and maybe even enough to build steps or a mini deck at the back door. There are some logs from the old porch that I need to get moved. Some rot in them but there is more than enough length to cut and make several corner and mid support post for deck railing.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 25 with blue sky overhead for the moment. Heavy clouds just departed and others look like they are on the way in.
Have to make a trip to the Vet with Snoopy this morning. Some bare spots (hot spots?) on the top of 3 feet I can't get cleared up.
Something has been putting big holes in the east gable end of the Rec/Storage blg. From the size, I thought maybe it was a squirrel. One big hole on each end of the gable and on the south end it is tearing up the bat boards as well. Patched them all up about a week before we went to Washington. When we got back, the holes had been opened back up with a vengeance. So, yesterday I went down and pulled the now holed patches. The south end I figure must be a wood pecker or something similar. The hole goes through the wood, some insulation has been pulled out but doesn't seem to have room for a squirrel to get through the backing and into the inner wall. The North end looked like an army of squirrels could have gotten through, but some other chips and chunks made me think maybe woodpecker.
Filled the holes with anti-rodent foam and then put patches over them again. This time I put a motion camera on each area. Got a hit on the N. Hole camera a half hour ago. It was a big flicker hammering away. He got frustrated (?) and flew off before I could get down there. No damage this morning. Got the .410 shotgun out of the safe and brought it up to the house. Hate to take him out, but if it is the source of continued problems I may have to. That gable end is looking like swiss cheese.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 24 and about 80% overcast. Have to make a trip to Alpha Compound this afternoon. Have to go into VAMC in Portland for a couple of CAT scans tomorrow morning. Don't feel like making the 5 to 6 hour drive from here very early in the morning.
