Rain stop already haha, been so wet I finally got my power steering upgrade installed in my Bronco, huddled up in the shop buying parts online for entertainment. Saginaw upgrade with custom bracket to retain stock belt built right here in Oregon!
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Raining at Alpha & 40.5.
A pickup backed into us in the gas line at Costco in Eugene. Said he didn’t see us and was in a hurry trying to get to a pump in another line. He apparently didn’t hear my car horn either. Rammed us with trailer hitch and rear bumper.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 33 here at Alpha.
Interesting day on the phone with insurance and in Salem yesterday.
Other fellows insurance, Geico, has accepted full liability and our car is in for repairs. It’ll probably be today or tomorrow day before we know how long it will take to get parts, get it fixed and get it back.
In the meantime, the insurance set up a rental from Enterprise. I told the claims agent we needed a snow zone capable car or SUV with Mountain/snowflake tires. He said he would make those arrangements. Well, we got there and they had a front wheel drive sedan with summer tires, from Florida. We looked up the pass conditions on trip check & the manager agreed that it was not a car to be taken over the pass under the then current chains required conditions. So he found a 4x4 GMC pickup. It has straight tread summer street tread Michelins on it and no chains. But, it should get us back to Bravo Compound as long as they don’t have spot checks set up like they occasionally do on 58.
We aren’t going to go back to Bravo until tomorrow now so maybe there will be some road improvements. Currently pass conditions are not good.
Well that sucks Jim, Les Schwab used to have a deal on chains if they weren't used they would buy them back. I know that is not something you want to do but at least you would be able to get home.
@90's rig Welcome to the Oregon forum! Looks like a nice upgrade for your Bronco.
I hope everyone's new year is off to a great start. I had an fun day last Sunday... My driver's side ball joint failed. That was interesting. Got it stopped without hitting anyone or anything, luckily. Got some body damage to the right fender and flare. I already have the ball joint replaced (upper and lower) and will be doing the right side ball joint in a couple days. Then it's time to fix that fender...
