It didn't occur to me that a Chuck roll roast would last for days. I'll be eating this through the weekend. The real surprise was how much fat marbling was in a roast from Safeway.
What kind of a person goes off into the woods alone, without knowing where they're going and what they're doing? I've gone camping, fishing, and hunting since I was a kid. I never went alone. I never went somewhere that I didn't know. I never went unprepared. I went with people. We knew where we were going. We were prepared to be there, and had an exit strategy. I'm not blaming the victim. She is not a victim. She got lost in the woods. And it was her fault.
I've gone off in the woods alone many, many times. However, I have always known where I am, and plan the in and out. Wilderness is better when you don't have someone yapping at you.
Warranty service matters. About a decade ago. I bought a cheap kitchen knife from Farberware with a lifetime warranty. It didn't work well. I forgot about it. Last night, I remembered that it had a warranty. I sent an email in the middle of the night. This morning, they replied that they are sending a replacement. I didn't have to send it back . Just dispose of it. That's good warranty service.
Too bad mine is 20 years old. Steering column repair man came out today and checked the brake switch and gear selector solenoid. Everything is fine. So, the problem is in the transmission. Or where the cable connects to the transmission. He recommended the same trans repair shop as Charlie's Automotive. Even called the guy. Doug, the transmission shop guy wants me to call on Monday to make an appointment. So, I will be doing that first thing in the morning.
For no real reason, that I can think of, O'Reilly's sends the coupons in my e-mail. Eddie Bauer, Kohl's, and other companies do the same thing. Sometimes I use them. If it's convenient.
$5 coupon. Doesn't work if you have less than $5 worth of stuff. Must be $5 or more. This time, I grab an oil pan and a funnel. I noticed that the receipt said that it had a 90 day warranty. I wonder how many oil drain pans fail within 90 days. No warranty for the funnel. If that fails, I'm out of luck.

I'm a survivor without being a survivalist. Yes, it's great to have a wide breadth of knowledge when it comes to outdoors skills. What you can eat. What you can't eat. Starting fire. Setting traps. Building shelter............. But I was also taught to be prepared. Redundancy. Have a backup plan for the backup plan. Prepare yourself before you go, so that you don't have to rely on primitive survival. That includes technology like maps so that you don't get lost. A map and a compass.........A 20 year old GPS works when there's no cell phone tower to ping off of.
She went off into the woods, into a storm. Didn't she check the weather forecast before going into the woods?
