It is a pretty neat toy. I'm tracking the overnight delivery with breathless anticipation. Knowing that I will use it once, just to test it. Then it'll be in a 5 gallon bucket with a bunch of other camping gear.
That knife set up looks nice , I have a older bone handle knife that I’ve had for years , mainly use it for skinning, the blade stays sharp but not all the way through a deer , I keep a stone handy for keeping the edge crisp, never really needed a fire starter , I’ve been taught to carry matches , matches are useless in Oregon unless keeped in a dry bag wrapped in another dry bag and then stored in a dry bag maybe a knife set with a fire starter is not a bad idea after all ,
have a great weekend y’all
Butane torch. Plasma lighter. Matches. Ferro rod. Dryer lint soaked in alcohol and dipped in Vaseline. Shredded newspaper and oil. Potassium pomegranate and glycerin. Lighter fluid. A Zippo.
Which is why an extra Morakniv doesn't hurt. Mora is one of the best camp knives.

Found my truck!
Went to the bank to get quarters for laundry. The closest Chase bank to me is on one of those main streets that has several used car dealers on every block. This one was located at Sierra Auto Center. $22,750 listed. It is a 2014 with 102k miles. However, due to my lousy credit, and no down payment (they will give me a generous $1,000 for my PoS truck) The monthly payments would be $550. Not even close to doable. I might be able to sell my truck for $3,000 but that is a stretch in its current condition. After returning home and taking a nap, I got a call from the dealer asking if I would be interested in a 2017 Dodge Durango with a hitch on it. When I was there, I told them I need a pickup truck to put the lift in, or a vehicle with a hitch, and I would see if the VA would get me a hitch mounted scooter carrier. So, now I am going to go back tomorrow after church and look at the Durango. The sales lady said the payments would be $450 for that one. I went on their website to look at it, and it is listed at $16,995. However, I don't see a hitch on it unless it is behind that plastic cover in the bumper. Doesn't hurt to take a look. They have 41 photos of it, and looking at the interior reminds me of the 2017 Dodge Charger I had. Steering wheel, gauges, even the center console looks the same with two exceptions. It has the stock stereo, and it has a rotating **** to change the transmission with. I doubt I will be able to afford $450 a month, but maybe with the sale of my truck, it will put the payments under $400. Anyway, it gave me something to dream about for a day or two.
For those who are not aware, this is a feast weekend for The People of San Francisco. We celebrate a battle fought, in another country, in a war which they lost. Ironically, they don't celebrate in that country, because they lost the war. I like cheap beer and cheap tacos, just as much as anyone else. And I love watching drunks fight in bars. I'm fueling up for the party tonight with cheap sirloin and salsa.
May 5th is just another day to feast on Tacos , like any other feast day , I’m thankful to be alive and provide food for the table and honored by the grace of god to be in my life , to help direct me to stay on my path , even though sometimes I go left at the fork in the road .
my Tacos for the cinco will have chopped up linguiça Portuguese sausage , ranch raised Hamburger, Hatch fire roasted green chilies, topped with goat cheese, shredded lettuce & tomato, with a Tums chaser , I usually fry extra tortillas into a solid chip so all the fixins turns into a tostada, I place the tostada chip on the plate first , then make the tacos on that so it don’t turn into finger food to much .
Just read that snippet on Cinco de Mayo. I find it interesting that it is celebrated more in the USA then it is in Mexico. Well, I did not get the Durango. Not because of the price, but because it was difficult for me to get in, and then almost impossible to get out of with my non-bending knee. So, I came home, and when my roommate came home, she asked about the Durango. Told her I couldn't get in or out easily, so I shifted my focus back to the King Ranch. She asked if I wanted to go "halfsies" on the monthly payment. I told her sure, if her dad will buy my truck for $2,500 or more, I might be able to lower the monthly payments by giving them $2,000 in cash. Of course, I would have her sign the loan so we would both own the truck and be responsible for the payments. I could transfer the lightbar and disabled plates, and the salesman said they might be able to remove the scooter lift from the bed of my truck.
I checked online with my insurance company and the payments would only go up $47 a month, which I think is what they would have gone up on the Durango as well. The sales manager said he would work with me on the price, but I don't know how much "working" he is talking about. A couple hundred, a thousand? Of course, my roommate asked this question after the dealer (and my insurance company) are already closed, so I will have to wait until tomorrow to work out the details. Sure would be nice to have a truck that starts when it is supposed to and changes gears too. They don't show a photo of the engine, but it says Ecoboost, so it must be the V6. Doesn't that have a turbo? Guess I will go to the Ecoboost forum and do some research.
