What's nice about Wally or I suppose any chain store is the ease of return even without the receipt.
My batteries in the '16' went out last year while in SD with the 5th wheel. Batteries were purchased from Wally a couple years prior while leaving AZ. No questions asked about returning them for replacement. I did have the receipts but it was in the computer system when the read the bar code of where/ when purchased. I replaced them both while in their parking lot.
It isn't leaving 20%. The BULK charge rate stops at 80% and then it float charges above that. It will input the maximum volts to 80% then it steps down to a lower voltage input to "float charge" or to keep the battery topped off.
The FLA bulk charge rate being set to 120% means it would never stop giving 14.7v or whatever the bulk charge rate is until the battery was 120% SOC essentially overcharging the batteries forever and killing them prematurely.
I don't believe this is correct, as there is no way for the BCM to monitor battery status on the 2017-2019 trucks. This *may* be correct on new trucks that have Hall Effect sensors on the batteries to communicate with the BCM so that alternator charge can be controlled.

well the newer trucks are supposed to have "smart" alternators.
Question: Does the truck charge the trailer battery also? Asking because what if the truck is changed in Forscan to AGM but trailer has a flood battery.

With the small amount of current that actually makes it to the trailer battery, it is more of a trickle charge and not a high amp bulk charge.
I ended up going with the Wally World EverStart Platinum AGM's. Was about $400 for 2 (once I return the OE's for the core charge back). I requested another free 2 month trial license from Forscan this morning before leaving for work, however, it still hasn't shown up in my inbox (or spam box). Hopefully it will make it soon so I can change the battery type and the see what the charge rate is set to... The MC's did have a little swelling on the sides, and the top of one was a little damp... I got just over 3 years out of them, so I guess that's good for these! LOL. I wanted to get the X2's, however, 2 of these cost what 1 of the X2's cost... I figure I will give these a shot. If they make it 3 years that's not bad, at least not with a 4 year warranty!

It was the same with me. The key never showed up in my email. I reapplied the next day and it was almost instantly available on the website for download and installation. It seems that they are using the same procedure that they use for purchasing keys now
My batteries should be here on Saturday as I had them delivered to the house.

I tried sending it again when I got home today before putting them in, but still nothing. I will try it again tomorrow morning if nothing. It has done this to me in the past too... I guess I should have just bought the lifetime key a few years ago and that way I wouldn't have to worry bout it anymore...

So just wanted to update my process with Forscan and my findings using it. Also, FWIW, my truck is a 2022 6.7 and was built 9/17/2021. It came with 2 FLA batteries and dual alternators.
First off, as already mentioned, we cannot purchase an extended license, however, we can still get the free 2 month trial license. My mistake was not reading the directions, which has changed since the last time I got a trial key and was emailed to me. After going back this evening, I noticed that they state in bold that the trial key will not be emailed. This is what they say:
As soon as the form is filled and submitted, the process of Extended License generation will be started. The process may take some time, usually up to 30 minites. The Extended License key will NOT be sent by email. Instead, you will be able to download the license key on this page as soon as the generation process is completed, by reloading the result page or by resubmitting the form using the same data.
Once I followed the directions, the key was immediately available.... So I went out and hooked it up to the truck. I pulled up the English side of the BdyCM module and found that the "Battery Target State of Charge, %" was set to 120. I would like to read more about this and find out why it is actually set to 120. I have heard that some (unsure what year models) are set to 80, and I have see where at least one user changed it to 90. I went ahead and changed it to 100, knowing how easy it is to change it back to 120, or something lower, but I would like to figure out more about this setting. I understand that different battery types have different preferred charge rates at different stages. I just can't understand why 120 was ever an option. Also, since it is listed as "Target State of Charge" this makes me think that this number doesn't represent one of the stages of charging, such as "bulk" charge. Makes me wonder if it has something to do with 1 battery vs 2... I don't know.
Also, the "Battery Technology Type" was set to Flooded. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were only 2 options for this: Flooded and AGM. So this was an easy change, and is now set to AGM. And I did change the battery type to AGM first, just to see if it would change the target state of charge % afterwards, however, it did not.
Anyway, here are some photos from Forscan:

Only 2 options on the Battery Technology Type, Flooded and AGM. I have seen some photos with more options, but not sure what year they were.

I'm getting ready to do the same battery changeout with the same batteries. Thanks for posting this.
