Your timing is too far advanced. be sure not to idle it any more than you have to for a few thousand miles. so far so good but your cam isn't out of the woods yet.
other than that it looks like it went as well as you could hope. good job.
gotcha. I figured it was too far advanced since the start up. Haven't gotten a timing light on it yet.
It has some blowby still, but not quite as much as before. The PCV seems to take care of it. I guess its semi normal, I just had the walls honed and deglazed, I'd be more concerned if I did a full rebuild and checked every ring gap and everything. If it runs and doesn't make super horrible noises I think I am just going to run it. I ran it down the road today and I think I may do an oil change soon and fix the thermostat housing leak.
Heres another video. Fixed thermostat leak, put in 180 thermostat, runs cool and does't overheat. It seems as though the blowby has went away, maybe rings were just still trying to seal. It has a little bit of a exhaust leak, but me and my buddy really had to handle the hell out of the exhaust pipes and gaskets to get them on so I'm not too worried about it. You can't even really hear it in the video. It carries 60 psi of oil pressure driving and like 40 on a hot idle. Seems as though I've done everything I can do for it. Just gotta hope.
Here's the supposed exhaust leak I've been talking about. I'm not too worried about it, I hope its not a lifter or anything, but if it is then its whatever.. it's a really intermittent sound, and I'm usually not worried about this typa stuff but trying to get all my ducks in a line here... it also may be because the exhaust as of currently dumps right under the crossmember since I haven't finished it.. Me and my buddy really half assed the exhaust so it really may be the donut gaskets..
Truck still going smoothly. Exhaust leak is semi fixed since I put the rest of the exhaust on that runs to the back of the cab instead of dumping right under the motor. It cleared up most of the sound I was hearing. Truck cold starts at about 65 PSI of oil pressure and when warm idles with about 40. I've recently been fighting the carb gasket to get it to seal / get the right one, and whenever I go down the road smoke / steam pours through the vents.. the blower motor doesn't even work.. i may bypass the heater core and see what happens. It doesn't really have a smell, it doesn't really smell like somethings actively burning.
Is your truck factory AC? If not the cores are readily available and easy to change. I fought my carb for a bit as well until I got it all good to go. I had leaks at the base. I also fought every single heater hose. They all leaked and needed tightened a few times.

No factory AC, yeah just one side never wants to seal
If you have steam coming out from heater box, it's likely leaving a greasy film on your windshield too that's going to be a pain to clean. If that's the case I'd bypass heater core immediately. You don't want to be breathing those fumes.
I'm wondering if the base of the carb is warped since it sounds like only one side is leaking. Might try to locate a thicker insulating gasket, which will also help avoid vapor lock when temps get warmer this summer.
Beyond that, sounds like it's time to just drive and enjoy it.
