3.73 doesn't have an advantage in the same gear as 4.30 at any time, even in 10th you are going to get more torque with the 4.30 gears.

According to my math 4.30’s have a 21% advantage over 3.55’s and a 16% advantage over 3.73’s that can be felt when driven and is documented in Ford’s tow guide.

In the same gear...

My 4.30s are about 2100rpm at 70mph in 10th. I get the same mpg at 75 as my 460. What is the advantage towing 10k lbs or less. It's like logic escapes people and the Neanderthal takes over. Ford should just eliminate all choice and only offer 5.38s because it is better than 4.30 with the logic coming from some of you people. None of your arguments or lack of make sense for the purpose the OP asked the original question of.

If you like 3.55’s or 3.73’s I’m happy for you, I don’t. I don’t drive my truck over 70 either though. If I remember correctly it’s turning 1900 rpm at 70 with 34.5’s.

I am now convinced these guys don't understand how automatic transmissions works. I can't think of any other reason after all this time they are still arguing with the simplistic 21% and 16% figure ignoring every other variable. In the days of 4 speed autos I was the first to ask for the lowest gearing possible for trucks that I use to tow over 10k.

Ask Gazilla to show you the massive, ginormous, gargantuan, earth moving trailer he is towing that is making anything other than what he has to be not suitable for him.

You’re immature, childish and very sensitive.

I take my truck and TT to places you probably won’t even take your truck to, by myself.

Why thank you. My wife does say I look young for my age and sensitive to people's needs. Maybe she is just saying that so I will take out the garbage but hey, I will take the compliments when I can.

But I think you and I should just stay in the friend zone.

To heck with the gassers, lol!

[QUOTE=F2502024darkbronze;21167068]I guess this thread is about gas drive ratios. I just want to say that I am going to own a first ford superduty ever of my life. In fact first ford ever. I plan to tow a 12,000 lb travel trailer. The truck is going to be a 2024 f350 with 3.55 gears behind the 6.7 diesel HO. I have full confidence in this. I can't imagine that gas engines will be far too different. If I had the option, I would have considered gas. The limited only comes with diesel.

Useless reply, I know.[/QUpassers,!

Howdy!

Diesels rule! I have a '22 F-350 SCLB 6.7L Lariat w/11,400LB GVWR, snow plow/camper pkg, 3.55 gears and tow an 11,400lb RV. Sometimes with some weight in the bed and sometimes without the RV, but maxed out on payload at times. Today it hauled a 60" tv and a dishwasher, lol. The truck "hauls" and whatever I ask it to do it does well. Good luck with your new FORD.

I still think gas superduty trucks that tow at the max should opt for the 4:30 ratio especially if they plan to run 34" or larger tires when towing.

Unrelated old person babble: The '94 GMC Sierra K2500 (8-lug) that I had with a 350cu in and 4EL80 3.73 G80 struggled to maintain speed with 4th locked out. Towing the same RV empty it barely held 45mph on level road, full throttle. I towed the same RV with my '97 K2500 Suburban and fried the trans when I forgot to lock out 4th and the trans cooler was supposedly plugged. It has the VORTECH 350 4EL80 3:42 G80 (8-lug). I am thinking of a set of 4.10 front and rear and to upgrade to a better locking rear. I've heard this works fantastic. I hope this was long enough to annoy sensitive readers.

When I croak, this Superduty goes to my best friend to live on.

I have both diesel and gasser……and I find people who own just one or the other are equally as bad with trying to justify their decision. They’re equally as relentless with making their choice seem to be the perfect one and that if someone has the opposite they’re an idiot.

Goes both ways good buddy.
