Sabotage is a possibility? That is downright scandalous if the case, which I hope it is not.

As an FYI blackstone requires oil after it has flowed for a bit. They don't want the initial open drain plug dump so if you send some solids they may not do a thing for you. I would call them and ask if possible to send solids separate for ID purposes.

Good Luck

I for one am very curious to hear what they say.

That’s good to know. I was going to put another filter in any drive it a bit then change the oil. I see they want it caught after draining for a bit.

I had tried the Archoil because I did the injector KOEO injector test and 3 of the injectors were not clicking before a cold start. After running for a bit then trying the KOEO test the injectors sounded good. Wanted to see if the Archoil would help with the stiction.

1. Another thread mentioned a broken injector tip allowing fuel past. What would that look like in the oil?

2. He bought the truck years ago and it had the EGR unplugged. I’m a Duramax owner and the delete for those was either a welded closed EGR pipe or a reroute. What is the proper EGR delete I should see on his 6.0?

Thank you

I agree with that thought.

Well situations like this don't just happen out of know where so there obviously more going on here, but we'll never know.

I was surprised to find the filter this clean. I changed to a new filter and drove the truck about 12 miles to heat up the oil and drain it for the Blackstone sample. Delta was 9 to 13. Still going to change the oil, flush it and change the water pump. I’ll check the numbers after that’s done. Do any of you know how long it takes to get the sample report back?

It looks like there might be more issues, that filter looks brand new. With all the gunk that was in there with the last oil change, and at least 3 quarts of old oil retained with each oil change, that filter should have grud in it already.

Just thinking out loud, I wonder if the bypass is stuck open now?

And looking at the filter again, it doesn't even look wet.

It’s wet. Oil was in it. I put it in just before the short drive to heat up the oil. I drove the truck up town and was gone around and hour just driving and watching the delta spread. Came home to check the filter and catch oil for the sample. I was surprised.

I've sent 3 off in the last couple months, 2 aircraft and 1 truck, all took a month for the report.

It took you an hour to drive 12 miles?

I can see some crud in that filter so I'd be doing 2-3 oil changes over the next hundred miles with cheapo diesel oil and some trans fluid, but that's just how I'd do it and to each their own. Also how many miles on that oil?

Since it now looks like the motor oil is bypassing the filter AND nobody is talking about the weirdness at the top of the standpipe:

I would be interested to see what the IPR and ICP pressures are with all the gunk in the system. Kinda surprised it even starts anymore.

Well sheeet eh!

Guess oil has been getting past the filter and thus the gunk accumulation.
