Washington's 2024 BS Thread
Storm still going but not as strong, 4 boats washed up on the rocks. 1 Dinghy, 2 Sailboats and an old Chris Craft, all pretty much toast. We'll see in the morning if the other 4 sailboats in the bay make it through the night. I know at least 1 poor soul is on one right now cause he turned his mast light on.
I'll have another damage report in the morning. A lot of the times its insurance fraud. One of the boats was my neighbors here in my marina, he was trying to give the boat away for free. Nobody wanted it so he anchored it out there a few weeks ago and uped his insurance last week. Happens quite regularly here.
Insurance fraud costs all of us in increased premiums...I hope perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!!!
Today has been a long day. Last mow and lawn trimming of the season, washed the equipment, blew off the patios and front walkway, worked on the 1960 F100.
Yamaha mower minus deck (Kristi’s run around vehicle), X350, 2038R
Thanksgiving dinner in the bed of the F-100
Came across a rattlesnake today in our equipment shed. Dispatched with a shovel.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Nickolas, I agree with Steve, I wouldn't want to try and get anything out of your truck with your dog in there.
I'm back from Spokane and visiting my brother. Unfortunately for the last time, he's not expected to live much longer.
He was a smoker, from about age 14 until he couldn't breath on his own any longer at age 70 that was 11 years ago. He has been pretty much confined to his home and on oxygen since then.
So if your a smoker quit!

Tim...sorry to hear about your brother...hopefully his passing is as peaceful as it can be. I lost a friend to lung cancer about 8 years ago at the young age of 62. She also had been a smoker for many decades.
Tim, sorry to hear about your brother. Losing loved ones always sucks.
Sounds like you had an interesting day yesterday, Preston. Nice equipment you have there.
I was busy yesterday, too. About 3 months ago my wife gave me a 30' flag pole kit for my birthday to plant in the front yard. Not wanting to dig the hole and do the concrete work in 100 degree heat, I put it off as long as I could. Besides, I am the king of procrastination and digging holes and doing concrete work are 2 of my least favorite things. But yesterday was the day. 70 degrees and overcast. Perfect outdoor hard working weather. Dug the hole for the 18" around, 2.4 foot long chunk of sonotube, 9 bags of concrete hand mixed in a wheelbarrow later, one hunny-do project complete. (funny how that sounds so much easier than it was) Then the sun went down.

Thanks Ken and Wayne, he passed last night about 2130 local time.
Starting the day at 50° and looks like it's going to be a sunny day.
Wayne, Good job on the flag pole base, why did you use sonotube? Why not just pour the concrete in the hole? Nice sunset!

Edit, after spending a little more time out there this afternoon cleaning up, I remembered my thoughts on the necessity of the sonotube. The hole is on a slope so I felt the need to have something to shore up the downhill side of the base, leaving a more level top for the finished effect. It's 4 feet down from the upper curb at the driveway to the lower curb at the grass. I did choose one of the more flat areas of the slope to make the job easier. It'll look better after the flash collar is in place, the pole is in the hole, and the rocks are back where they belong. Give me a week to let the concrete dry good and I'll update. It's supposed to rain overnight and through tomorrow morning so we'll see how big a mess we can make.
