They are the wiper arm keys. They locate the wiper arms in a specific position. Some glue them back into the wiper arm in hopes of strengthening the connection. Ford in the past has called them out as being for assembly purposes only, and not necessary, but some owners in locations with heavy snow may have experienced slipping of the wiper arm. The wiper arm recall that had to do with improper spline height, also had some owners more paranoid about keeping the keys in. The recall included a step that adds glue on top of the keys but it was only an interim procedure until new parts were available.
Mine have been out for 4 years, no problem yet....but also no snow haha.

I JB Welded the keys back in my wiper arms and let them cure overnight before reinstalling. LAST thing you want is for the epoxy to permanently bond the wiper arm to the truck. Just make sure the epoxy doesn’t get in the splines of the wiper arms. Just a light skim on the key is all that’s needed.

My 21 truck had issues during snow.
I wasn’t aware of the issue and was confused at first. Turned wipers on and they wouldn’t move but I could hear them trying to operate.
took 15 minutes of messing around to finally pull the wipers off and I saw the little wheel they side over that turns them.
after finagling them and reattaching they’ve worked ever since. I’m sure my little tabs tou pictures fell out but I haven’t had an issue since that day either, so….

This same type of wiper arm has been used for many years by Ford, and the keys have been known to fall.out for just as many years.

Thanks for the heads up. I checked and found this on the left side. I pulled both wiper arms off; the key on the right side is also gone; totally gone, guess it did not make it through the car wash. I'll glue the left side on; should I worry about the right side? Can I get a key from Ford? PS: I know it is not related, but no wiper recall on this truck; build date Feb 22.

I worked at world’s biggest auto glass company for awhile. They are keys to align wipers. They fall out, we usually didn’t bother putting them back. We were told same thing, they were for assembly. Some people actually wanted their wipers adjusted out of the factory spec (wipe higher or lower on windshield), and you had to take them out for that.
