August 2023 Missouri Chapter Chat/BS thread.
I'm glad your experience was better. She could have got the issue fixed the next day if he hadn't taken her plates. They were personalized plates. I figure that is why he took them.
.. i am getting ready to head up to springfield in a little while to have a Gastroscopy (Upper Endoscopy) done.. sounds like a fun day. the rest of ya'll have a good day .. i am sure i wont ha ha ha ha
It poured rain here for about 30 minutes, then stopped. I'm gonna wait a bit for the driveway to dry off, then see if I can get the A/C compressor in Tiff's car and get the A/C working again. It hasn't been fun with black leather seats in this heat with no A/C.
Also got to watch a forest fire flare up that was being battled on the outskirts/north west part of downtown....with Blackhawk helicopters and BAMBI buckets. Going to a aircraft display later on today, Air Force bases are always have cool display aircraft.
Stay safe, hydrated, and outa trouble. Travel safe if you are traveling.
Company has my day all screwed up. I did manage to walk the dog this morning but after that.

Good news RC when you come up we'll have some freshly frozen Gulf shrimp. I'll make a small boil; garlic, corn, new potatoes, mushrooms, beanie wenies and the main attraction Gulf Shrimp. I popped heads off the shrimp for an hour or so this morning, then graded and bagged them up, now they're in the freezer.
We're going out to eat to night so that's one meal I won't have to cook.
I'm not sure what happened but I took the fuel lines loose on the 56 and ran the electric fuel pump, FUEL, hooked everything back up and the truck runs again.
So I moved it into the house garage so I can work on the wiring again. Got the fuel gauge mounted in my gauge cluster but I haven't reinstalled it nor checked its accuracy yet. Probably won't get that done until after company leaves.Dave2 sorry to hear the fuel pump gig was a bust, but you'll find one. Just keep looking.
Joe, I'd think the cop was illegal taking personal property. If he stopped her a 2nd time, why didn't he give her her plate back. Something's not adding up. They took my Granddaughter to Jail over an expired plate but I'm sure she aggravated the situation, she's a know it all. OBTW neither her nor her boyfriend had bail money to get her out so the daughter had to spring her. Kids

We got Sarah dropped off at college. Her dorm floor only has her and her RA for the next couple of weeks. She is the only freshman girl on the cross country team. I think she is a bit nervous about this change.
Then last night her RA work her up so they could go to the basement because of the tornado warnings. My oldest spent time with her kids in the cellar of their 1875 Victorian home. That cellar is a bit nasty and damp. But the storms rolled through without any damage at least to our kids.
I was hoping for rain for my run this morning but it looks like it as all passed.
Anyone know that approximate cost to have heads reconditioned? I might take my two spare heads to PMI to see what they would charge. If it is not too bad I could put those on my truck this winter.
Joe. It's really gonna depend on what they need. If they need valves, seats, guides and plaining, you could probably buy a set of aluminum heads for a couple hundred more. If they just need cleaned up and a valve job, you could get away pretty cheap.
I got the A/C compressor replaced on Tiff's car and the air blowing cold yesterday. That was no fun at all. I remember now why I stopped doing mechanical repair years ago.
I need to back the big guy out of the trailer and fix his wheel restraint and king pin braces. I don't like him sitting around with not being ready to perform.
Stormed pretty good last night here. We got about 2" in an hour or so. Washed my new grass seed away.
I think my Son-In-Law broke his boat and wants me to go look at it. He thought it needed a fuel pump but the new fuel pump won't pump fuel. Has gas, fuel gets to the intake of the fuel pump but then stops. It has two Chrysler in boards. I'm not familiar with Chrysler motors but I'm wonder if they have a push rod like the old Chevy engines than you had to put a bolt in to hold the rod when changing the fuel pump.
Joe, Be sure to take your heads to a reputable machine shop. Your heads being Y Block shouldn't matter. Make sure they check them for cracks. And Remember my experience; had the heads done and ended up with antifreeze in the oil, warped head! It was pretty pricey to have the heads milled but I wanted them the same even though it was only one that was warped. Are you trying to fix a leak or stop it from smoking. I have had engines that I did head work on but the rings just couldn't cut it. Again, just another tear down but this time in-depth bearings, rings, hone etc. Can't you your other short block and have it cleaned and checked along with the heads? Then build it as you have $$$ and time? I don't know why most of you 55 parts would bolt up to that other block (292,272??)
Y'all have a good safe one.
Have a great day all!
Joe, we've got a couple capable machine shops around, Tim Evers in Mary's Home, right by the fire station and Dennis Peters at the Lake are the two that come to mind right away.
Tiff found an ad for free vintage Christmas stuff in Arkansas this morning, so we took a road trip and made a day of it. Went to some flea markets and tried out a BBQ place. I'll tell you the trip was a LOT more enjoyable with working A/C in the car. Hopefully it lasts. It was good to spend the day with just the two of us. That hasn't happened without a monster truck involved in quite a while. I'm wore out though. I even napped a little on the way home.
