It will be real interesting to see how it works out. Especially as a working work truck. Where do they hide the batteries on that thing?
Does Northside have the State Bid Contract? Could explain the blue sticker. It also gives you an idea of how much profit and wiggle room there is to eat 50% of the markup.
Batteries are in between the frame rails since there is nothing there. I think it will work for a "flaggin' wagon" but that's about it. it's the first all electric vehicle in the county fleet. I really wanted to have it for my use but I would have ended up having to work around the range and charge status. In my 5.0L F150 I have over 700 mile range. The lightning is 220 in ideal conditions. There are times I'll put on 150 miles, a lot of that on gravel roads in remote areas.
Yes Northside is on state contract. For reference, the 2019 f150 we have that I was driving until I gave it to the crew we paid $22K. Crazy. Newest 2023 F550 with a service body we paid $93K and took a year to get. That used to be a $65K-ish truck for us. Welcome to the new world order..... Glad I got my personal truck when I did.
No work will get done today since we are all in CPR/First aid training. Have a good day and weekend everyone.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 33 & wet.
Up at Bravo there are snow flurries, snow on the ground with more predicted. 2” at Willamette summit. Could make for a winter adventure getting back to Bravo.

Rain for the first 130 miles, some of it pretty heavy, snow the last 40 miles or so.
Made it back to Bravo about an hour & 1/2 ago. Had about 5 miles of snow flurries before hitting the snow and ice build up about 5 miles down mountain from Salt Creek Falls. Did well for 2 or 3 miles & then the car & 18 wheeler ahead of us started to lose it and were pretty squirrelly. I thought maybe the truck was going to jackknife but he caught it. They slowed way down, the 18 wheeler pulled over and stopped (probably to clean his pants) and the car continued but slower & with 4 way flashers on.
It seemed like our rig was doing fine but it did feel like it might be a little loose in the sharp corner in that same area so I went into 4WD High range. We ended up being in 4WD all the rest of the way. Chains weren’t required yet so we didn’t use them. To be honest, I don’t think there was enough stuff on the ground to makes chains a viable option.
Stopped at the Gilchrist post office before heading on out to the house. Got out of the pickup and thought I was going to slide all the way down to the mill pond on my butt. It was slicker than an ice skating rink. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed with the traction of my waterproof heavy cleat foul weather snow & ice shoes. Checked for mail and then continued to the house at 35-40 instead of 45-50.

That is been an issue for most other than Tesla. If I were ever to consider an EV, imo, Tesla is the only one that has it's stuff together. A month or two ago the Sec of Energy or something did an EV road trip to show how great it was. She had ICE chase rigs with her and it didn't take long for them to figure out in order to secure a charger, they would send a chase rig ahead and park in a charging station so she would have to wait. And yet the powers that be keep shoving it down our windpipe.
We have a level 2 charger installed just for this truck so charging won't be in issue and it won't go on road trips. I should know in a couple of mounts if it will work for the flaggers. It should be fine for them and I can take credit for stepping up and getting an EV in my dept. (pats self on back).
Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else.
Currently about 3” of white stuff on the ground. NOAA can’t decide if it’s going to rain or snow. Went out and warmed the tractor up & then decided there really wasn’t enough snow on the driveway & with more coming down, wasn’t worth it. Showing mixed rain and snow this afternoon and three days of rain starting tomorrow afternoon.
