Good afternoon.
I saw an article on the Tremor Package. If I were to win enough money to buy a Maverick, I would opt for the Tremor package. Of course, then I would have to fight with the dealer over his/her absurd markup. But it looks like a good deal.
Ford's CEO is also sick of dealerships ripping off customers. Dealerships aren't scared of tough talk from The CEO. The dealership agreement, at present, clearly protects the dealership's ability to make a profit and charge whatever the market will bear.
The public is the culprit. "Whatever the market will bear" Means rich people don't care what they pay for a vehicle as long as they get one first. If the public would stick together (never going to happen) and NOT pay any markup, then the dealers would have no choice but to sell for the MSRP. However, there will always be people who don't care about the markup, they just want to get the vehicle of their choice before anyone else.
I have never paid MSRP That's just a starting point for negotiations. My dad told me that the out door price should be below MSRP. That's how I buy. If they sell at MSRP, no negotiations, then I will pay more.
I got some avocado. They were on sale, which is why I bought them. They were large, less than $1. They were green, then ripened to have a little reddish brown. The flavor was a little lighter, and the flesh was more creamy than oily. I look at the sticker. It came from Peru.
Dad said that our California avocados, the big expensive ones, go to places like Japan, where they can sell for $10 - $20 each. Then avocados from other countries are imported. A big avocado from another country sells for less than a small California avocado. My brother in law said that at the port, he sees brand new F-150 premium package trucks being loaded for export, to countries where they pay more than our MSRP. Then Ford imports things like my Transit Connect from Turkey, and Maverick from Mexico, to sell for less than an F-150 base model.
I get it. It's how the world economy works. But if we have to pay a flat rate, MSRP...... then those of us who used to haggle the price down, will now pay more for our cars and trucks. That puts more money in the dealerships' pockets. They can eliminate sales staff, and not pay commissions. While the customer is now forced to pay MSRP.
I buy meat from the big chain stores. Better pricing and availability. For produce, I turn to the Asian and Latin grocers. Better overall quality. In The Valley, I would think that local farmers markets and farm stands offered better produce.
