Good Morning Jim. On at 15 minute break during training and saw the December thread. It looks gorgeous outside right now, too bad I’m chained to this computer.
Haven't been outside yet today, but it was a beautiful day yesterday. Applied for me Real ID so I was up early to go to the DMV. Interesting that they will NOT accept a DD214 as proof that I am a veteran. Have to go to the nearest VSO office and get a signed paper to take to them. What a joke. I only need to prove my veteran status on Veterans Day to the restaurants I go to, and I use my VA card for that. Since the Real ID process has already started, getting that paperwork will be a waste of time until the next renewal in 4 years. Kalifornia is so screwed up it is unreal. Another case in point. The Utah CCW permit is good in 23 states, but not Kalifornia. If you get a Kalifornia CCW it is good in 12 states, and with the Utah one added you are good in 35 states. I have no plans to travel so I will just get the Kalifornia one whenever I get my gun back from the CHP/Fresno PD.
We can eat indoors anywhere we choose here in Fresno.
Just bought another gun. And I will pick it up at 1pm Saturday the 11h. I would be willing to bet that I will have it before my S&W SD9VE. talked to the Fresno PD crime specialist, and he says CHP still has my gun. Called CHP and he says it will be sent sometime this week. So maybe, with any luck, I should have it sometime the following week. Which would be great as then I could have it when I pick up my baby smith. With a three-and-a-half-inch barrel, it can't be called a papa Smith. LOL Here is what I got. Total bill was $800.31, because I bought two clips, a locking gun case, and 50 rounds of home defense ammo. I still have 50 rounds of 9mm ammo from when I bought the other S&W gun. and of course, there was the application fee, background check fee, and test fee.
It is listed for $499.99 but I just looked at my receipt and they charged me $529.99. So, I called them, and they said they will take care of it when I come in to pick up the gun. I also noticed that they charged me for three extra magazines, when i only bought two. So I will have them take care of that also. I am on the fence as to whether or not I will keep the SD9VE, as I can sell it and offset the cost of the smaller one. Or I can keep it as home defense and take the smaller one with me when I get my CCW permit.

Yes indeed. Now I just need to pay it down so I can afford the CCW. The class is $95, but the permit is $208, and the fingerprints $25. Application fee is $116. Comes out to around $445 after everything is added up. California sure knows how to make money of a person... My plan is to pay down the added charge until April, then get the CCW.
Well, I am my own worst enemy. I signed up for the Dec 18th CCW class. I put it on my PayPal card. After the 8-hour class is over, then I get to go through all the other stuff. I will see if I can do that in January though so I can have a month's income in between to help with the cost. Speaking of income, I heard that social security is getting a 5.9% increase in their paychecks. However, I just got mine today, and it is the same. So, you mean to tell me that people on SSI get it, but not people on SSDI? That is so stupid. Just like the $600 stimulus checks that went to SSI people but not SSDI people. We have to pay the same higher cost of living as the SSI people do. Where is our increase?
