Our tire place (America's Tire) will usually repair a tire like that as long as the puncture is not too close to the shoulder or sidewall. Eminently repairable.
That is what I’m hoping, Mrs. will still be buying one tire to replace the spare though.
It's my turn. I'm sitting at America's Tires. TPMS light and notification on the dash. I found a tire with only 23 psi. No visible puncture. But all 4 tires were showing cracks. Old rubber. Deteriorating. I declined the extra cost for "certificate" road hazard. Just the regular road hazard which comes with installation is good enough.
Check the manufacturing date on the tires. It's the 4-digit code next to the DOT designation. For example, 1622 indicates that the tire was made in the 22nd week of 2016. Tires are generally considered OK until they get about 6 years old. Any older, and it should be replaced because they die from UV and ozone exposure even if they are not driven.
Funny. I asked the person in charge at America's Tires for the date code of the new tires. He acted perplexed. I told him that I wanted fresh tires. I explained to him that old rubber deteriorates and I didn't want old rubber. He said, "don't worry about a thing". I told him that I will note our conversation, that he would not even look for the date code, and I will document the code myself. I don't expect a problem. But it is always good to have a record of these things. They could sell 5 year old tires and you wouldn't know.

My mom finally put her foot down and made my dad get new tires on the '39 Convertible Sedan, or she wouldn't ride in it anymore. Dad thinks the tires were from the sixties. Remarkably, he reported a much nicer ride after putting on the new shoes.
The best part about having a base nearby is that you can buy things at the PX. And fill up on fuel without the gas tax.
Wrong type of Base. It’s a joint USFS/CalFire facility with Fire Retardant planes, Smoke Jumpers, and the North Zone logistics center. Similar to South Zone down there at Fresno.
The latest one is contained at 1 acre of vegetation with no structure damage.
