I agree it is almost fool proof, but we as humans make mistakes at times.
Does the wheel contact the housing? Does it make noise when you turn the wheel? Do you replace anything else besides the compressor wheel and the parts in the 360 bearing kit?
Here is the turbo on it's side . The only thing I can't think possible is that its just super dry because everything was in a parts washer and cleaned thoroughly
No expert, but I’ve rebuilt a few turbos. That is more play than I expect. Is compressor wheel tight?
There should be zero in/out play and a couple 0.001’s side to side.
Sent clay the video , he said everything was fine fill it with oil and try again . Got some delvac today and filled it up.
No noise at all and all side to side movement wheel spins free and easy.
Now moving onto the trans cooler once it stops raining and picking up a 2 inch pvc piece to fill the airbox and everything will start to go back together .
Lots off trimming, drilling and cutting but it fits and has plenty of support and is secure.
New steel braided lines installed, now tomorrow I can finally get the front end on and start reinstalling the turbo and driving it to work to test it out.
Just a few hours after work today before it got dark and got the front support bar, wire harness, and radiator and condenser supports back on along with new belt, tensioner and fuel filter installed.
That's the same belt I bought many years ago because it was described as HD and I liked the green color to contrast tthe others. Years later of faithful service, it still looks pretty darn good.
Keep up the good work, we are enjoying you sharing the journey with us.
Got the turbo mounted with new ford o rings, EBPV delete, new up pipes and all wires for the glowshift gauges ran just need to run the power and mount the gauge. Also needed to drill and tap the second battery box due to some lazy person snapping the bolt off and just leaving it stuck in the box.
Got everything back together , looks like I need a new ground for the riffraff air intake heater delete . I have his wire but I used the bolt on top of the hoop to ground it .
The rest I'm not really sure about what cause those.
