That’s the typical recommendation around here. I’ve seen people say the deeper pan does not actually help to keep temps cooler as it just ends up being more heat soaked fluid. I run the 6.0 trans cooler and haven’t had any issues with temps.

What part of WV? My daughter is in school near Wheeling. We’re below Parkersburg close to I-77.

Finally parts are rolling in, just waiting of parts from Riff Raff plus ordered the glowshift triple gauge.

Between race bike parts, tools, and supercharger parts all piled in by the front door over the last two weeks my wife finally made me pile them in the garage.

Well I started the removal of the turbo and up pipes today.

Ended up cutting one bolt on the driver's side up pipes and breaking all three off the back of the turbo even after heating with map gas. Got all but one out and broke my extractor .

The kit I was sent for the bpv delete is definitely wrong. It has 5 bolts and my turbo only has 3 . At this point if anyone sells and upgraded hotside housing I'd rather just buy it and be done with it .

Van turbo is 3 bolts and trucks are 5 bolts.

I DIY delete EBPV’s. You can remove flapper and Rod, then use a freeze plug, bolt or weld the hole for Rod.

I removed the rod and flapper, now just trying to find a freeze plug to push in and then I can put the c clip back in.

Still need an extractor to get the broken flush bolt out of the turbo housing.

Also not so sure the 6.0 cooler I ordered is going to work for the van its not set up the same so looks like I may have to come up with something different.

Two words: billet wheel

Seriously, if not too late I would add this to the order. You will already have the turbo apart. The riffraff 4x4 billet wheel will spool faster and prevent surge. It’s a great upgrade.

Three words: Listen to Jason.

I bought a Riffraff 4/4 billet wheel and it was a great upgrade. I was really quite happy with it in the GTP38. The performance gains in a billet wheel is one of the best bangs for the buck.

Got home late today after placing the order at work, I found the hotside is already a 1.15r so I spent the time and did a proper drill and tap with a 9mm x1.25 tap ill find a bolt in the shop tomorrow to fit. I hope I dont have the drill out the riff raff housing adapter as well but I might.

I emailed them and asked them to cancel the housing and exchange for the billet wheel.

You done good.

on edit: verify that outlet adapter is for a VAN if you are using it instead of just deleting yours. The trucks use a larger exhaust pipe and will not work. Most people buy that outlet adapter to use van turbo on trucks...

2nd edit: The van turbo has a 1.15ar ex housing, but also a larger turbine wheel. These parts are not interchangeable with truck turbo. The van turbo is ‘special’.

In my humble and non-engineer opinion, the Riffraff 4/4 compressor wheel is the best wheel on the market for a stock turbo and all around use from towing heavy to daily driving. I ran one for years and I cannot remember one bad comment about the wheel. There was one years ago by an FTE'r that is no longer on here that had problems threading the wheel onto the shaft, but I believe Clay worked with him to get the issue sorted out.

Have fun with it, that is what it is there for!
