the Tach issue was all discussed in the first few Posts in this Thread..... go back and Re-Read
What I'm trying to tell you is that with E4OD transmission Tach signal is IMPORTANT... IF it is degraded then it WILL lead to Early Transmission Failure.
well maybe I need to ZF5 swap it because the mustang in the pictures is what I used to drive every day and I hand built the engine. I am more used to 5 speed manual than a automatic. And incase you are wondering the mustang came stock with a 140 mph speedo.
so a granny low..... LOL i prefer 5 speed since that's what i have always driven except for 2 3 on the tree F 1 pickups with Y blocks.. and the ocasional 4 speed and 6 speed. I prefer 5 thats what I am most comfortable with. As for the turbo I might snagg one off a 99 to 03 and adapt it.

The 7.3 uses a goofy mount that doubles as an oil drain, they take up alot of space for the size they are and don't perform very well.
I think the s300 series is the ticket for performance/fitment.
I am referring to the truckd just after the idi when ford took the idi and basically put a turbo on it. That was before the powerstroke
Sorry I was thinking of the other thread where the guy already has the 93/94 ats 093 kit.
That would be a very easy (bolt on) option.
There's also aftermarket kits made by banks, hypermax, ats (085 &088), cts, and another couple odd ball ones out there.
I see the banks kits more than anything, sometimes also the older ats ones. They all perform about the same. No head studs needed to use em because you generally never see over 15psi.

is a Garrett off a 97 or 03 too much for a idi? I have herd good things about Garrett and not too much about banks or ATS
it's not a question of too much... it is more a question of can you make it operate .... How Long have you worked for Ford ? are you a Mechanic or just a Sales Person ?

It's just alot more work to get it fit. By the time you buy a good used turbo for say $300, and all of the stuff necessary to make it fit, you'll probably have more in it than a bolt on kit, not including all the time it would take to build it.
When I did mine it was lots of cuts and bends and grind this a bit, tack that there, it didn't happen overnight. One day I even probably need to redo it, so it's a bit more efficient.
The main problem is space, and finding somewhere to put it. The 7.3 PS turbo has a big goofy pedestal on the bottom of it which doesn't make it very handy to mount somewhere. Could it be done? Sure, but worth it just to have a stock 7.3 turbo, nah, there's better options out there.
You might hit up your local junk yards and look for some trucks with a turbo, or at least some pieces that may help you build your kit. Like a pedestal, intake hat, maybe the hot pipe that feeds the pedestal. Ect.
