First attempt custom grill
Really nice interior work. As for finishing, does that ever happen?
Thank you, still plugging away at it... "Finished" I think is a mythical place that only happens on TV shows...

Started making the curved speaker grill cover/decorative panel.
The center insert panel with the retro fabric is done and the frame is covered with padding. I'll pull the center insert out and wrap the frame with the black vinyl next.
It's a snug fit but a simple 3/4" thick x 6-1/8" wide x 18" high MDF board tucks nicely in the space and I replaced the little rubber door bump stop screw with a longer 1" Stainless Steel screw that pulls the board tightly against the wall
Wrapped it and put it back in and it fit like a glove...
Almost done with this part of the build...

I finished building the drivers side speaker cover panel. Wrapped it and added the emblem then installed.
I finally pulled out the door weather-stripping and installed it
Panels fit nice and snug to the new weather stripping
Also pulled the new aluminum door strips out of storage and installed them as well...
Crow bar and jack crank installed
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
You have a sweet ride, I hope you’re going to have the time to enjoy it this summer!
I think you should offer the rest of us a kit for our trucks!
Really nice job man, hope you can use this for your home and landscape projects now!

I already had a failure that needs to be addressed. The power steering pump seals must have been ready to fail or there is a crack in the housing. I didn't notice any leaks when I took it apart so I reused the pump. Anyway I picked up a new pump and a new high pressure line as the one that's on it won't allow for any belt adjustment (See picture below). The line is hitting the dip stick and it only has about a 1/2" of adjustment for the belt. The new line has a tighter bend right off the pump and should allow for full adjustment. Probably better this way now as everything on the steering system is new or rebuilt.
The black one...
Looks very nice, what did you repair the steering wheel cracks with?
Richard
Thanks
The black steering wheel I used JB Weld and posted a thread about it but for this Light Blue Metallic steering wheel I used superglue and baking soda. I'm much happier with the superglue steering wheel because it heats up when mixed and is super strong very quickly. When it heats up it seems like it softens the steering wheel material a little and then solidifies. I have no proof of that but when sanding it back down it looks more like a blended material then something that just filled the crack.
Not my video but a simple example.
Here is my thread about repairing the steering wheel and how I got all the separated cracks to line back up. I did the same process on the blue steering wheel but used the superglue and baking soda as the filler/bond.

Hope this helps
It was running great but started blowing blue smoke out the exhaust and showing signs that water was getting into the oil. I was hoping it was just a poor seal on the intake they did last year but we weren't that lucky. Some light scratches on a couple cylinders. Trying to stay positive so with me tied up with other projects they will hone the cylinders then install new pistons, rings, main bearings, lifters / bottom end rebuild and all new gaskets. The mechanic was happy with the heads and said it looked like they had been redone at some point and didn't feel any further work on them was required but just to make sure they were disassembled and checked to confirm everything is still up to spec and then cleaned up. When this is done about the only part not new or rebuilt will be the rear end. Basically a new truck... lol. Wasn't necessarily in the plans with the how good it was running but probably worth it with how much has already been done to the truck.
The plan from the beginning has always been to fix up the truck and sell it so to me this is just one more selling point as almost everything has been gone through and addressed. I enjoy working on them almost as much as driving so to me this has been a great time and I have enjoyed driving this truck a number of times and the attention it gets. Whoever buys it will end up with a very great truck that has a lot of effort put into it. Will I make back the $$$ that were put into it? Doubtful but it's a hobby that I really enjoy and hopefully someone else will get to enjoy it even more. I have 6 more trucks to work on and enjoy so I'll be fine.
