Things are moving at a snails pace here with the pool project and the truck. The summer finally hit us all at once so everyone is struggling to adjust to the high temps. But I did swing by the mechanic's shop today and was excided to see the truck was outside and the DJM lowering kit has been installed. They discovered a small leak on the transmission and they still need to do some more adjustments and tuning so I didn't get to bring it home yet. And yes I did snap a picture of it just for you guys & gals..
Before...
And now...
It was good to see it again and to see some progress.
Looks good just the right height to fill out the wheel well.
I'm getting ready to install djm kit myself. Did the shop have to use shims to correct pinon angle since your truck is a long bed?

I agree, I think this is the perfect ride height for these trucks. I don't mind when they are sitting on the ground when parked. This just looks right to me.
We spoke about the possibility of needing shims when I dropped off the kit and he said he would let me know if it needed them. All he said today was "it's a really nice kit and everything went right together with out any issues", didn't even need the reamer tool I bought for the kingpin bushings that DMJ recommends. Oh well another $120 tool I don't need and probably never use...
Interesting well I guess I'll see how it goes for me although my truck has the flex o matic leaf spring set up so that might throw a wrench in things. Did you get the shocks from djm as well?
Quick up date, the pool and landscaping is finally done so I figured I would share what's been keeping me from working on the trucks... Sorry in advance for the non truck related post .
Before
Finally finished ...
As I said SORRY but this has been a huge project keeping me from working on the trucks so it's great to finally be done and hopefully back to the trucks soon. I'm heading to Texas for a few weeks to see my new Grandson first!!!
So after a long shop stay the F100 is finally back home and I've done a few things to it with more to come... They ended up rebuilding the transmission to go along with the new gas tank new sending unit, fuel pump, lowering kit and new intake gasket/seals. (I'm sure I'm forgetting something) After that it headed over to the exhaust shop. The previous owner had a new single exhaust put on but it was leaking from the drivers side so I had them put in a new seal and add a second pipe so now it has dual exhaust. They reworked the existing single exhaust to fit the new pipes in and worked with what was there to save some money and it turned out really nice. Dropping it off for an alignment tomorrow morning.
Here is a before shot of the single exhaust and before the lowering kit.
When I got it home I installed the new seats and the reconditioned steering wheel.
I still need to paint the steering column and a number of other details.
Looking good. Tucked in nice behind the wheel instead of out like it was before.
I know I asked before if the shop had to use shims quite a long while ago but after seeing your photos today it looks like they did?? Hard to tell but if it's shinny then I would think it is a shim. Still haven't gotten around to install the back half of the djm kit. Front was just buttoned up this past weekend.

no they didn't use any shims, what your seeing is the background light coming through the gap between the spring hanger perch and the axel.

Yeah I was thinking of painting the underside but I'll probably just leave it now.
A new toy for the interior showed up today... definitely hits the mark on the retro look. Hope it works as good as it looks. I added the Bluetooth adapter option as well.
