I got the new drive shaft installed but then the head gasket went on my dd honda so had to push the he truck our to make sone room. Nice to see it out of the garage, snapped some pics of the new stance.
Thanks, poor thing keeps getting put on back burner but after I get this head gasket done and the exhaust manifolds replaced on the superduty Ill be back on it.
Holy cats, this build took a turn I wasn't expecting. S550 IRS on a 1973 F100, too cool man, I love it. Great fabrication work too.
Have you actually taken the truck out on the road much yet with that new IRS?
No not yet I need to tie up a few loose ends under the hood and get a tuner ordered and have the engine tuned with the new maf, throttle body, and blower. In hindsight I should have just done the irs or just the blower over the winter and I would be driving it now. This winter I plan to store it in my sister in laws garage so I cant tear it apart again.

Ah I hear ya. So what's the next tear down for this coming winter then?
Well there is another 4.6 in my garage its an aluminum block, would like tear it down have what ever machine work done that it needs, add forged internals, do the heads with some porting, a set of blower cams and an over drive pully for the blower. BUT I a man who lives a couple miles from me and I used to work with at a small engine shop with passed away recently he was in his 80's but he started suffering from dementia a couple years ago, and he and his wife never would say anything or complain but you could tell money was tight with medical care and stuff so I helped him out with stuff like driveway plowing and car repairs if I could . He was into garden tractor pulling and his wife called me when he died and said he had told her wanted me to have his little pulling tractor. So I think this winter I want to restore it, for the last couple years so its been sitting in an old shed and I would like to get it back to how it looked when he built it and was healthy and enjoying it. Its not really my passion but I have 2 young nephews that will both be old enough to pull it next year if they want to. It might get the interested in mechanical things and I feel he would have liked to see someone enjoy it. So thats the long version I guess lol.
I hear ya, these projects are never really "done", haha.
As unfortunate it is about your friend, your plan for the pulling tractor and your nephews is very cool. I think it's great to get young kids interested in mechanical projects. It's a great skill set to have, especially if they learn they have an interest in it, and can catch onto it. Seems there's a rapidly decreasing percentage in newer generations even interested in going outside these days, let alone learning mechanical related skills and problem solving. Get your nephews involved in the rebuild of the tractor, if you can. It will be a life long memory for them.
It's sad but he was a cool down to earth guy told me once that the end comes for everyone, and getting past 80 was more then he could have asked for lol. I hope the nephews get into it they are 5 and 6 I'd rather see them covered in grease then with a cell phone or video game. Plus might irritate my sister in law
some progress was made last night ill get pics soon, The fuel rail crossover hit the Supercharger So I cut the old one off when i installed it and finally made a new one. All the vacuum lines are sorted out and hooked up. The intake elbow I built is painted and installed along with the intake tube. The original fan was 2 thick with the new coolant tubes and the way the alternator is mounted now so I installed a flex lite 2000 cfm fan, and wired it to the stock control module. I also made and installed a new negative battery cable the old one is to short now that i relocated the battery to the left side, and lastly I cycled the key a few times to check for fuel leaks went to for the last time and it started and ran. Im guessing the cold start parameters are close enough for it to start without tuning but I deff wont run it until its tuned but it sure helped my motivation to hear it run.
