That is one sweet ride! The wife and I were talking about doing something similar to our 79 2wd. Our concerns were ground clearance with the pot holes we have every spring.
We get them too but I haven't had any problems with pot holes, really not any lower then a crown vic. frames about 7 inches from ground and headers are about 4 but if I didn't have long tubes they wouldn't hang below the frame. I did hit a spot where the road heaved right after a dip and the header scrubbed but that was when I had stock struts and leafs, with the coil overs on it now and rebound and compression set how I want it I don't think that would happen now. I am hoping one day someone will make a long tube for this swap that fit better these are mustang headers with one primary modified to alow for the steering shaft.
This is an incredible build. Your truck will surely stand out in any parking lot...and should draw it's share of attention during your anniversary cruise in Thousand Oaks.
You have some awesome skills with the smoke wrench. You are also fortunate to have an abundance of used parts available locally...and qualified shops to help with the build.
I like the location for your boost gauge. My "big mod" was to Velcro a digital clock in that same location.
This thread is great inspiration and a testament to what can be accomplished when you're willing to roll up your sleeves and get busy.
Thanks for the kind words, I upgraded the fuel pump wiring and data logged another 2000-5000 pull I will send today . There is a rich cold start or open loop issue I datalogged also so we cn figure that out. But other then that its running well, I plan to get the tires road force balanced I have a small vibration at 65. Also need to get leaking winshield fixed or replaced. I did get it washed and waxed last night though
Nothing huge to report but have been working threw the remote tuning, had a couple fuel issues but they are resolved and its moving along now. Shes running well and handles so much better with the irs and coil overs front and rear. 3.55 are good gears for my use of the truck. Makes me want an ex cab or crew cab in addition to this one so I can have something for the whole family can go in 4x4 or lifted 2wd.

The Dent crews are ridiculously priced now but the late 80's 90's can be found for a reasonable price especially a builder. Diesel or gas is the question then. ! found an 87' dually crew for $2000 a few years ago with the last carburetor 460 with low miles but I had to fly to Portland to get it. 'm in western Pa. near Kinzu reservoir.

I hear ya I have had 6 or 8 of those over the year with gas, diesels, and I cummins swapped one so I am kinda over them. I really don't need another project so I will just kinda keep my eye open if I find one good if not that's prob better. Im in upstate ny so I would look elsewhere and have one shipped if I did anything. After getting this one our of cali I don't have much interest in our local salt infested trucks.

Yep, since "Cash for clunkers" and the rust problem we have here also having a "hauler" truck and trailer has been essential in helping with my "Fording" problem.
Got the regI station sticker in the mail today for my "vintage" plates. These were used in ny from 1973 to early 80s I think. Got a reproduction 1973 registration sticker for the rear one. Maybe it will help me sleeper profile I know i have to adjust that bumper
Did some "heavy" hauling wit the truck yesterday. My aunt in syracuse neighbor wanted this canoe gone and my wife's uncle wanted one for his home on the lake. Was about a hour and 15 min each way truck ran great. Got some looks for some reason. Quick rack from some scrap lumber
My 73 grilles arrived from denny carpenter so I installed then ,at first I wasn't sure I would like them because I I really like the 76 inserts but I think they have grown on me now and will stay. Also ordered a universal steering column with tilt that I will replace my ford column with. My signal switch won't return, I can't get the shift indicator to line up good with the
4r75e trans and I really want a tilt wheel to see gauges better. Once that arrive I will attempt to install it and get it to play nice with the crown vics bcu.
Got the universal tilt column installed I removed the upper and lower mounting brackes from a junk column tube I found and plug welded them to this one. Works well for my application the bough a matching gm connector and terminals for the turn signal switch and it works perfect with the bcm, the ford one gave me issues with the brake lights overriding the blinkers tried diodes and all kinds or trick but was never perfect. I think I will pull it back out this winter and paint everything but the levers and wheel satin black like the original. Dont mind the mess I have been putting 60 miles a day on it a few times a week making sure it ready for the trip at the end of the month. Dont mind my vice grips i bought a new **** but it only lasted a week the stripped out looking for a replacement that will last
