Put about 100 miles on it now and so far so good I can take hands off the wheel at 60 and it goes straight, still getting alignment done monday. I put a set of single chamber mufflers after the magnapaks and that made a huge difference inside the cab and out side. Deeper tone not all raspy a little drone at 1500 rpm but not bad and really at that rpm In town. I also put togther a sort of home brew cold air intake. Just waiting on some filler neck parts to arrive to try and fix my slow fill problem. Never relized it before but the intake air temp sensor have to be at the same angle as stock or the engine wont idle well and stalls when you stop.
after alot of head scratching about gauges I came up with this plan and I was able to get my gauge cluster done. I used to work in a fab shop till recently and one of my jobs was running a cnc plasma table, my brother still works thereand is in charge of all the prints and drawings including plasma table programs so i bribbed him to draw me a plate and the guy that took over my job when i left burned a part out of .120 aluminum to bolt the stripped down crown vic cluster to. it is thicker then i needed to be but i had the material and with no access to a tig i needed something easily welded with a spool gun. i the cut the center slats out of the stock gauge surround and cut and welded some aluminum to made a frame to hold the new cluster and welded it together. its not perfect but for what i gave him to draw from i am happy we can always got back and tweak the drawing and re burn the part and make it perfect but this gets my going and proves the concept. My Surround isn't the best so if it works well i will have a good one the use and i can make redo the plate. it also covers all the warning light i don't need like door ajar, tpms, and fire suppression system but i can still see brake light, abs, blinkers, check engine, battery and oil lights. I still need to get some plexy or something to make a lens out of, but right now that stuff seems to be worth its weight in gold so this is it for now. I will add some picks of it installed tonight Part my brother drew old coworker burned out
Went to the junk yard this morning looking for a seat but nothing worth buying, also alway have my eye out for a mustang or, lincoln mark 8 for the irs but no luck there either. There wasnt a single dent there.
I did find a replacement pwr steering reservoir, mine had a small hole in the top from when the donor car was wrecked, also found a replacement for my missing engine cover. Then I found a 91 f150 with intermittent wipers so grabbed the switch and harness. Got everyrhing installed and the wipers word for about 5 min then no intermittent, o well was worth a try for 10 bucks. I aslo washed both trucks after I got home.
Picked up a contour bumper from twinzilla yesterday and got it mounted today. I think I mounted mine a little tighter and maybe at a slightly different angle then stock but I'm happy with it. Started this this not bad, just not to look i was after Origanal mounts were torched off flush with bumper so i ground them smooth and made 2 new tabs from 1/4 x 3 flat bar. Bolted tabs to fram and welded them to old brackets New tab New tabs hot glued to old mounts Made to fillers to clean up where the bumper goes to the back of the box and painted them black. Shined up pretty well
Looks good. A lot better than the one I have. Thanks to Brian
yea think I'm lucky to live close to him, and this bumper cleaned up pretty well but not perfect and that's what I wanted because it matches my trucks "lived in" look
It was time to rip out the old mat which was just textures rubber glued directly to the floor pan. I went with loop carpet mad by acc, I think they all are, and applied some sound detening / insulation underneath. The carpet actually fit well and all the holes the had marked lined up great. I was expecting the worst after researthing it.I am still wait in on my 80s door weatherstrip and I still.need to find a nice black seat but this helped alot with looks and noise.
thanks looks and feels nicer and helped alot with noise. hopefully i will have time to tackle the exhaust drone this weekend, i think the all the annoying noise i have left
