Hello from the fridge section-
Im working on a father/son project similar to yours, except I have rust shell of a lwb ‘59. Crown Vic is mocked up up front and I think I have the irs where I want it. I am going a little lower and bags (why? why not?;-/). I’m currently working on the mounts and was wondering if you had any advice from your swap? I’ve built offroad trucks before, but this is a new adventure for me. I’ll take any advice you have.

I considered bags also that will be cool . I just measured alot toger the where I thought I needed it , I 2x2 angle I had tacked to the frame with the mounting plates tacked to the angles and bolted the irs in with my coil overs. I used heaved tags in places I could easily grind them off. The I test fit the wheels bed ect, I removed the springs to test travel as well. when everything was where I wanted it I I disassembled everything built gussets to the mounting plates and removed the angles and boxed the frame. Donno if its thr right was but I goes straight was able to be aligned and so far hasn't fallen out

First question: what angle did your axles end up at ride height? My understanding is that ideally they are at ~1 degree.

mine are a little more then a degree maybe 1.5 hard to tell without a digital gauge. I set them at 1 but after not being happy with ride height when it was all said and done they ended up at the 1.5, poor planning on my part, but not difference in the way it drives so far. I have used the truck and loaded the bed with 500lb of bag cement with squatted it changing the angle and had no ill effects after an hour drive like that

Thanks for sharing! Trying to understand how you approached this - I've removed the track from my original seat, but it looks like you removed the entire bottom frame from the seat with the track still attached?

And then, you removed the bracket from the new seat? And cut some of that down?

How did you determine how much to cut from the new seat bracket to get things lined up right/sitting where you wanted it?

Thanks! Sorry, never done a project quite like this, so how I was going to approach this was pretty different from this, but guessing this is way smarter/better than I was going to do.

i used the old seat bottom because the replacement seat was 2 pieces and i wanted to use the stock mounts i did some calculated guesses and trial and error to figure out where to trim and weld

Sadly the time has come for myself and this truck to part ways it. It has been a great truck, reliable and fun but the but my life is heading in a direction now that this truck wont be driven hardly at all and more a hassle to store long term. On the bright side this new "chapter" is a good thing and I am very excited about it other then selling then truck. i have it listed locally for 18,000 obo so we will se what happens. thanks for all the help while building this thing

Sorry to see you go. Hope you won't be leaving the Chapter. Enjoyed your build of the 73.
I found that at my age, it's time to get rid of projects that will never get done. Already said good bye to a 32 Chevy, and 4 86 trucks.

Ill still be around and hope to get another one someday, I just dont want to leave this one outside to rot until then. Plus someone else can enjoy it and make it how they want it.
