Dammit man, that response sounds like I wrote it. Oh yeah, thats because I did, a couple weeks ago, LOL Nice job sending the letter and getting the response. The idea that various states appear to be looking harder at diesel trucks should concern those deleted. As a general rule states don't inspect vehicles from other states. If I'm legal in GA, I'm considered legal everywhere. That doesn't apply to obvious safety stuff like lights that don't work. But in the case of emissions equipment if I dleted I would not be legal in GA, just tolerated, At least NY and probably other states has the law stated "trucks using our roadways" which means to me that they would stop and inspect an out of state truck. I assume then that if they found a DPF to be missing they would take what ever action they take for NY trucks. NY doesn't bother me bacause I avoid it anyway due to being armed but I don't know what the other states are doing. That should concern anyone driving cross country deleted.

I don't recall anything in the Colorado "Rolling Coal" bill that exempted vehicles from other states. If you're blowing big black smoke, they can ticket you.

You bring up a point that I have always thought of if I had deleted and was out of state. I was thinking that maybe they would want to mess with the "Yankee." Not saying anything bad about southern folks, but everyone thinks a New York State plate or if you tell them you're from New York, they all assume New York City. Just my two cents. And for what it's worth, there's a ton of deleted trucks here in my local area. There's no emissions testing here like there is in the greater New York City area. A benefit of being a full time officer is that it allows me to carry in every state. It would be nice if a federal reciprocity bill could be passed for concealed carriers.

Agreed. I try to look up the rules when I go out of state, but it doesn't always happen.

We have one. It's called the 2nd Amendment. Too bad the Constitution is no longer sufficient.

They don't do those ticket traps in GA anymore. They sure used to though. The state put lots of restrictions on local towns about that. They do however allow them to patrol interstate highways that are within their jurisdictions, So, cmon down. Besides half of the north Atlanta subburbs are yankees. I am 100 percent with you on nationwide constitutional carry but check out VA. The state is fixing to put some heavy gun laws oin the books and there is a lot of resistance. I was just reading where one county is now forming a milita, It is getting serious. I always thought abortion would be the issue that caused a civil way but it may well be gun laws. It is hard to get people to accept that gun deaths won't stop if they pass laws restricting me.

I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, states like mine think that driver's licenses and healthcare are rights while owning a gun is a privilege.

Point taken Dave, but let's all agree to leave driver's licenses, health care, and guns out of this thread on diesel emissions laws and enforcement. We have had a productive discussion, that will likely benefit many readers in the future who are on the fence about deleting, or are wondering why it is now so difficult to find delete kits. We should try to avoid burdening this thread with any extraneous political tangents on hot and devisive topics that are likely to lead to thread lock.

The topics of this thread have been about diesel emissions compliance, complaints, enforcement, avoidance, cheating, laws, lamentations, etc... and we are likely better served by keeping the thread humming along those lines.

I stand corrected once again. Sorry for the hijack. I will stay on topic. Good thread going here...

I am no lawyer but, I would think that to do anything to an end user the EPA would have to find the equipment on the vehicle using a public highway. There is no law against buying the parts, there is no law against installing the parts, there is no law against having the parts installed. I'm just saying. I have yet to read a creditable report of a user of a delete kit being stopped and arrested or fined or prosecuted, or even yelled at by an employee of the FEDERAL EPA. I know it is entirely possible that it happened and I just didn't see it. And, I am talking about the FEDERAL EPA, not state or county or city offices which are I think the enforcers of equipment violations for non-commercial vehicles.

I think state officials are the ones that will get you.
some states are over bearing
And some not
Imo states that do everything they can to grab a tax. Are the ones looking
Sadly, even my state now is whole hog about insane tax rates.
we used to be awesome
But all the transplanted left nuts are ruining it fast
