What's next?

What are people going to do now that we can't get delete tuning? I tried getting my tune updated but No Limit doesn't service any tuning that removes emissions anymore... This this will last moving forward or do you think it will change? It almost looks like if we want to be able to update tunes for future mods or any other reason we will have to put the emissions back on and work from there.

What do you guys think?

There are others who still provide custom tuning without emissions. However, no emissions tuning will become increasingly more difficult and prohibitively expensive as newer model years are released with vehicle network encryption, such as GM's L5P model. Ford isn't far behind. As more vehicles become IoT devices, manufactures will have the ability to update the encryption keys if the modules detect an attempt to be modified. Until highly reliable emissions components are invented to reduce long term operating cost, the answer will likely be a gasoline engine for those of us who don't tow daily to reduce the cost of keeping diesel emissions hardware in working order from using a diesel for daily driving.

Anyone that sells Tyrant tuning has said they don't offer emissions off tuning. The tuners themselves might still do it, but no one is selling it...

Sadly, the days of tuning the trucks to delete are going bye-bye in my opinion. Maybe not this year, or next, but eventually.

seems to be here now. It's not good or bad really just different. Sucks i can't get my tuning adjusted but it is what it is at this point. We can still tune the trucks and eventually there will be aftermarket dpfs and all kinds of crap.

I'm with you!

I saw the emissions tuning start to go away a few years ago for my Nissan Titan. The tuner I used was no longer allowed to turn off the sensors in the catalytic converters. Mine weren't turned off though. I put in headers which eliminated the forward set of cats. I turned around and had a custom set of b-pipes created that had both sets of catalytic converters in them. My truck passed emissions testing - as well as the visual test - with flying colors.

Well, apparently as of Sept 16 everything changed. Even PPEI have halted sales of race products.

It's probably going to be a you have to know someone who knows someone. The friend can vouch for you that you're cool and not an EPA agent. That's where this is headed.

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for Banks to finally come out with the Derringer for the 11 to 16s. Runs leaner which should reduce soot.
