I'll take it. Deleting is illegal and absolutely should be.
The U.S. has become much more environmentally friendly before the DPF mandates. China and India are laughing their a$$e$ off as we create ridiculous rules that do nothing for the environment as those countries pollute the environment.

And Russia, Mexico, Cuba...even the EU's laws are not as strict. Great point.
Listen, WE ALL want clean Air. That's a given. But nobody talks about how much stuff gets thrown into the air by wild fires or by volcanos in a constant state of eruption. And we are still here...
This climate change movement is shameful in that it is creating a new generation of children and young adults that are frightened out of their minds by this propaganda. It's just CRAZY...
FYI, just saw on another forum that the CO state police are increasing their patrols or watching out for deyeted trucks. Someone guy came into the thread talking about "you guys and your DPF/DEF talk... That's why I won't buy a newer truck. If I did, it would be deyeted first."
Another guy commented, "The deyete train is coming to an end. You can only remove federally mandated equipment for so long. A bunch of tuners have already been fined."
The truth sucks. Know everyone knows why I want to be aftermarket quality products to keep my stock truck happy, functioning and legal. I'd hate to be out of state and get caught.
Lol,plenty of shops out there that have enough tuners on hand to delete trucks and will work on trucks that are deleted. Dealers wont, thats a given. Seems a lot of people on here have drank the kool aide and should have their man card revoked. Pitiful. If you think a 2008 and newer deleted truck is going to hurt or save the environment (if they have emissions equip intact) then your just plain ignorant of whats going on in this world. This alarmest talk/thread will go by the wayside and everyone will still be driving their deleted trucks unfined. Many bigger fish to fry.
Deleting emissions will not affect the quality of air much at all. Just like putting emissions crap on tractors. Doesn't matter much.
I deleted the emission crap on my 2014 last year and it doesn't blow smoke.
DPF causes a vehicle to use more fuel especially during regeneration but also because of lower mpg. Just like electric cars don't create a cleaner environment unless all power plants go to nuclear.
Exactly this^^^^^^^^. This makes not even a dent in the worlds pollution. In fact it does nothing at all.

I think you need to check yourself. I'm conservative as they come, I'm not against deleted trucks and I don't believe in the current climate change scam.
I'm no alarmist but what's happening is the truth. I'm not saying I agree with it but you must have your head buried where the sun don't shine if you think this can't get any worse. I don't know if you read the paper or watch the news, but we live in a progressive country now where Federal agencies like the EPA enforce laws that some or maybe all of us don't agree with and/or like.
Whether one agrees in climate change or not, unfortunately it's here to stay. To reiterate once more, I do not believe in all the propaganda about this subject. But whether I like it or not, the subject and the goofy laws that have come into existence because of said subject, are here to stay. For one to think that they will be driving around forever in their deleted truck with no accountability at all or will never get caught, keep smoking the pipe.
LET ME SAY ONCE AGAIN, I AM NOT AGAINST D&T TRUCKS. BUT WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING, I BELIEVE IT WILL GET HARDER TO DO AND TO KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH D&T DAILY DRIVERS. I could be wrong. I hope I am. Time will tell.
EPA police did a spot check of my stock truck and issued a written warning. Next ticket would be 700.
my crime was that during regen, I had more than 3 seconds of puff smoke.
keep in mind I passed vehicle emissions testing 30 days earlier.
If the emissions equipment is untouched stock oem parts, how can EPA hold you liable for it? Wouldn't the EPA need to investigate Ford instead like how they did Volkswagen.

That's what I was asking. If the truck was performing as it should with the emissions intact, how is it ILLEGAL?
And since New York State adopted the CARB laws, I'm assuming all the goofy requirements that are being discussed in that CARB question thread apply in the Big Apple and surrounding areas. Maybe speakerfritz will chime in. We don't have emissions testing here on the west end of the state, thank God.

Im down in SC and we're one of those states where you can still live a simple American lifestyle states with little rules and regulations. Low taxes, low crimes, no vehicle inspections, no emissions testing, etc. With the crackdown going on, I'm definitely moving my schedule forward to getting some work done to my truck. My biggest worry is, how you and others have mentioned, will the EPA force the highway patrol to start cracking down on their behalf. You mentioned you're a city cop, have you heard any talk from your higher up about having to help with emissions enforcement? Generally speaking, the HP in my state and in the southern parts of NC seem focused on moving offences and manning the weight stations. I rarely see city police, sheriff, or HP pulling people in diesel trucks over. Hopefully it stays that way.
These are definitely some trying times for the diesel community. What really hurts is these tuning companies get the majority of their money from selling off road tunes and now that they can't sell those, their revenue stream essentially drys up. A lot of them don't seem to offer emissions compliant tuning so it's going to be tough for them to make money.

I work in a very small city that borders Buffalo and the surrounding towns are bigger. We have two guys in our traffic unit and all they write is speeding, suspended registration/license and stuff like that. They wouldn't know what to write or what to look for anyways when it comes to this. Nor do they care I would imagine. It's funny you brought this up because I just had the idea of asking some of the state troopers I see and know if any of them write this stuff. The guy I got know who has a diesel big truck repair shop in the business section in our city got a summons from a DEC cop who happened to be at NYS Trooper truck inspection stop off the NYS Route road that cuts through our city which sees a lot of traffic. His last gen 6.7 Ford was deyeted. He ended up trading it with the emissions stuff in the bed to a out of state dealer for a new gen Super Duty. He seems to be happy with the Derringer from Banks. He tows a 5er with his truck.
You and I have the same worries. I am happy stock as long as I don't have problems which I don't. I have never gotten a "DRIVE TO CLEAN" message because my truck sees enough highway with hills to get hot besides the little stop and go I do in my city. I live south of the city where the altitude goes up when I drive the expressway home. It keeps my truck happy. I also plan on buying the Mishimoto oil catch can kit when it goes on sale soon to keep all the oil out of the intake from the CCV system. My truck is long term so I want to also buy an AirDog filter system for my truck to shine my fuel to hopefully make my injectors and pump last longer. I am also interested in a methanol system because it keeps the engine and emissions cleaner than stock , makes more power and keeps the EGTs lower. But I did hear you have to be careful with a stock truck because that can affect the Regens. The way I look at it is that we have to turn to the aftermarket to keep the trucks running cleaner, cooler and longer. That's at least how I look at it. My handle is Overkill for a reason. I got that nickname or rather my last truck got that name from a friend of mine who "borrowed" my truck and then it came back with OVERKILL in chrome letters on top of the front windshield. But's that's another story.
I have discussed this in other threads that IMHO, tuners like the Banks Derringer are the future. It keeps the emissions intact, makes power but not as much as the racier deyete tunes but good enough for the majority of us, makes that power with less fuel for less soot produced, does not break into or reprogram the ECM and has safeguards in the system that prevent component damage unlike deyete tunes. The technology of soot filtration and filters has to continue to improve which I believe it will. You also have to remember that like GM, Ford's 2020 6.7 Powerstroke ECMs will be encrypted making it almost impossible to tune as easy as these trucks have been. Sure, someone tuned the 2019 GMs but it costs a ***** ton of money. Time will tell but that's where I think this is headed. Once again for the record, I think with common sense and not emotion. I don't buy into this groupthink of climate change gloom and doom. But these laws are here to stay and the diesel community has to deal with it, whether they want to or not.
Almost forgot, I have seen on some websites emissions on tuning from the deyete players. How well they work is anybody's guess. But you do have established guys like 5Star and Jody at DP Tuner who do legal tuning. Many here speak highly of them. But again, they break into and reprogram the ECMs also.
That was on your 6.4 correct? So you had a stock, emissions legal 6.4 that was functioning as it should with no CELs? And if so, they could give you a summons next after the warning?
Thats correct. A stock 6.4 that pass emission a month earlier and a current inspection sticker.
the truck was doing a regen and an epa police pulled me over because the acceleration puff of smoke was greater than 3 seconds. I was given a written warning with notification next incident would be a 700 dollar ticket and truck would be impounded.

If there's any one here who doesn't think that this is completely out of line and wrong, please state your case. That makes absolutely NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. So it was a uniformed EPA officer who did this then? Freaking nutz is what I think... So in essence, you are responsible for Ford's lack of a functioning emissions system on the 6.4...
